Hey all! I'm one of the few holdouts that still owns only a SD display as a primary display device...but mine is not just any SD display, I have a 20-inch Sony PVM professional-grade monitor! This thing is probably not what it used to be but it's still by far the best CRT I've ever owned; the picture has that "pop right off the screen" effect. So then, you can imagine why I'd be interested in investing a nickel or two into a worthwhile digital converter box (for OTA broadcasts, of course). If y'all would be so kind as to direct me to any quality unit that you know of or have had experience with yourself, I'd be delighted.

Details: The PVM has both Y Pb Pr "Component Video" inputs and "S-Video" inputs, if there are units that have these output capabilities I'd prefer them for the enhanced video quality. Also, I don't have a audio receiver with digital decoding abilities, my unit is the Onkyo TX-8255 stereo audio receiver, so I'd also need a box that pumps out stereo audio.

You are about 5 years too late for the converter. I think I got 4 of them when the government was giving out free gift cards to buy them. My parents are using them, still. They are Airlink 101, but I can't seem to find them on Meritline website, which is where I got them from. It came with one of those flat antennas that work very well.

Here is a link to it from Amazon

Of course it is not free anymore.

6 TV's in the house on FiOS and we only pay $4.99/month to connect them all!!! Power to the CableCard and WMC7!!!

Is this perhaps the thread you are looking for?

Sturgeon's Law: "Nothing is always absolutely so."
Sturgeons Revelation: "Ninety percent of everything is crud."
My Thoughts: "A reasoned argument must share some basic common points."
