Will This Cable Work????

We are in the process of installing a new 4K TV along with a new 4K Blu-Ray player. The folks who sold us the TV and player stated we needed the higher end AudioQuest Pearl cables (high speed with ethernet) for our setup. So, we did order one.

I now realize I should have gotten two cables. I do have a cable laying around that I purchased about a year back at WalMart because it had been discounted to about $9. The cable is labeled:

MONSTER High Speed Cable with Ethernet - Will this cable work with the new 4K equipment? The cable I ordered with the TV & player was about $40. Is that a much better cable for 4K items OR is the $9 cable from WalMart just as good?

I really don't mind paying more for a cable is there REALLY is a difference!

Thanks for your help!

AudiQuest and Monster cables are way overpriced. Ethernet means nothing because the ethernet channel on HDMI was never utilized by the device mfrs so you won't find any consumer devices that take advantage of it.

It all comes down to distance. If it's just a 4k tv, and not 4k UHD, depending on distance, a passive High Speed HDMI cable should work from just about any mfr. Monoprice, BJC, MediaBridge, etc.

If you can get a stable signal with no sparkles, then the cable is good. Paying more for an HDMI cable will not guarantee better video and/or audio. You either get the signal or not.

You might watch Home theater geeks episode 265:
which talks about HDMI cables. If you are playing 4K material from the Blu-Ray to the TV then you may need the better cable for additional bandwidth.
