where to buy 1 ft. to 1.5 ft gold plate toslink cable?

http://www.primecables.com/p-331946-...70mm#sku331946

I want a cable that looks pretty much like the above, but only 1 to 1.5 ft. long. w/ the housing gold plated and preferred braided.

I already check monoprice, they don't have it

My search turned up the same results you got, I'm sure:

Gold plating seems to start at 3 feet, not less than. At 1.5 feet, I found the following (w/o plating):

The Monoprice Option
5 star rating with almost 2000 reviews...for less than $2.

Or a few from Parts Express.

Another option would be to go with a custom make from Blue Jeans Cable, though it doesn't look like they use gold plating. I haven't purchased from BJC, but I've heard nothing but glowing reviews around the forums.

You want gold plating because?? Gold is not a great conductor, just an oxidation resistant material. I really do not know what gold plating would offer as a coating unless it is a contact surface coating to precludes oxidation of the two contacting surfaces, reducing conduction. Also I do not understand what gold does to help optical signal transmission. Is this just for appearance?

I'm hoping the inquiry is a joke...the signal path is OPTICAL so gold plating on what is normally plastic that "holds" the connection in place will do absolutely nothing to improve anything (other than perhaps their bottom line). Please tell me your inquiry is a joke...PLEASE!

If it's for color coordinating, he could buy a roll of heat shrink tubing and make it almost any color desired.
