I have a DSL modem that is a long way from my receiver. Due to the house layout, pulling cat 5 to the receiver would be a nightmare. Can I p/u a 2nd modem and hook it to a phone jack by the receiver? If so, what would I need to do to make it work?
Sorry for the vague questions, but I'm not at all experienced with internet hookup options. Thanks, Bob

You need a wireless bridge device, in addition to a wireless network.

Or ethernet powerline adapters, such as this.

Best is what you perceive it to be, not what others tell you it is.

Just get a Squeezebox or Sonos and hook into your receiver. It will play internet radio from wireless internet. Also it plays your mp3 connection.

I would go the above route. Probably the cheapest solution, and they work.

Or you may be able to use an Apple Airport Express. I have two of them hooked into my whole house audio system and those work very well too. http://store.apple.com/us/product/MB...mco=MjE0NDc0OQ

I read about x10 and UPB, and I wonder why Nuvo, Russound, and other high-end manufacturers would ever consider releasing something using PLC. I think they're smoking crack.

There are just too many problems using PLC.

And to specifically answer your question. Two modems on the same copper pair will NOT work. In fact, adding another modem will cause BOTH modems to stop working properly. One at a time.
