i am using the calrad 40-7110 balun kit to extend component video from a dvd player to an new LG 42" lcd display. The run is about 75 feet. after the initial connections were made i was able to receive a signal and had video on the display. The next day the display was showing an "invalid format" icon and i have not been able to get the image back. i tried using different baluns that work on another display and i get same result. i then brought the dvd player to the room, used the baluns with a pre-made cable and it worked, i received the video. i was thinking it was a cable issue and re-terminated the ends several times with no change. what boggles me is that it worked one day and then not the next. Any Ideas?

Could be a cable skew issue.. are you using cat5e or cat6.. cat6 tends to have more issues if the baluns do not have built-in compensation for cable skew. Not sure on these units as I have never used them, we use intelix and they have built in compensation.

thanks for the response. i am using cat5e cabling. i will look into whether these baluns have the built in compensation. is there a part to use to fix the issue if skew is the issue? or would you recommend purchasing different baluns?

the baluns have an adjustment screw for peak, which i was believe is for skew.
