Thanks again for your assistance. I visited the attic trying to dig below the insulation in search of the cable in question. Not much fun and unsuccessful to boot. I bought some RJ45 connectors and picked 3 cables from the phone hub that were not the right ones. Seven more to go.
I think I might just bite the bullet and hire an expert to get the job done right. My expertise is in accounting, not wiring, so I can appreciate what an expert brings to the table. Hopefully an hour service call can identify the cable in question and have the company label the other cables as well.
At least I know more about the cable than I did a day ago so allis not lost.
