I am looking for an inexpensive 3D-capable HDMI (with HDCP) extender that will work over fiber. I would prefer one that has uses fiber with connectors (rather than an integrated fiber HDMI cable). Optional features are: RS-232 and/or IR (bi-directional if possible).

Thanks in advance.

Gefen and Crestron may have something that will meet your requirements. If fiber isn't an absolute must, HDBaseT products that will do what you want over a single Cat 5e/6 cable are starting to flood the market.

I don't know why you want to go with Fiber, but if this is the only use, HD Base-T is the way to go on a single Cat 6 cable.

And "inexpensive" and "fiber" usually aren't spoken together...

  1. I want to run between buildings in a lighting prone area.
  2. My run is over 150 meters.
  3. I have fiber in place.

Very timely, I just got a press release from MuxLab about their new HDMI-over-fiber product:

http://www.muxlab.com/assets/files/p...tender_Kit.pdf

Not sure if it's 3D-capable or not, says HDMI v1.3a... Do you really need 3D? Is this for a remote set-top box - if not, that's a long walk to put in a Blu-ray disc...

Jeff

This one will do 3D:

It uses LC-Type connectors.
