I have a 4ch amp that Im going to run 2 sets of speakers from. One set will be on the deck, the other set will be on the patio. The amp is going to be hooked up to an airport express so its only a single source. There will be times when I only want the deck speakers playing. I figured the easiest thing to do would put a volume control down by the patio.

The first question is will this work as basic as it sounds.

The second question is do I want an impedance matching controller or not. I was thinking no because that set of speakers has its own channels.

Thanks in advance

Yes, it'll work - just realize that you'll have to remember to shut off the patio when you're done with it...

And no, you don't need impedance matching because you're just attaching one set of speakers to each amplifier.

Thanks.
Are there any other options I should look into?

I have that very same issue. That I have to remember to turn off the speakers, and this is on a small rooftop terrace in an apartment. If I forget it, I might end up _really_ annoying my neighbours. There wouldn't happen to be any like... electromechanical timers one could use? smile.gif
