New construction, already pre-wired.

What receiver(s) type will offer me the best quality/ease of use?

I'll be running 5.1 surround in my living room and I'll have 4 patio speakers (in ceiling). I'll have a tv on the patio, too.

I'd like to know what type of receiver I'll need to have the ability to watch a movie in surround in my living room and still either watch a different tv show or listen to music on my patio at the same time. I'd like to be able to control it from my iphone/ipad if possible, too.

Maybe 2 receivers would be easier/better?

Any recommendations? Thanks.

Any receiver with "zone 2" support - either using a built-in amp or one with a "zone 2 pre-out" and a cheap external amp will do just fine. Pick one with network/Internet support and an iPod/iPad app and you're set. Onkyo and Denon and many other top-tier AVR brands have models that would do this with no problem...
