I'd like to run a small system, about 8-10 speakers though out the main portion of the house... Music streaming off a media server in a centralized location, where this reciever will be.
What's my options?
I want something that can be controlled by an iPad, or phone... Are there any or something that I could use to control it from the living area...
Maybe run an Ir cable to the receiver?
Thanks for any replies!

Do I just need a reciever with an Ethernet input?
And maybe run a couple power amps along side it?

This is a great option: http://integrahometheater.com/model.cfm?class=Receiver&m=DTR-70.4&p=i

Denon also has a good option however I s=don't normally recommend them simply because they tend to have HDMI socket problems (they just use low grade components). I'm not saying that Integra uses high-end components but I can say they are less problematic.

Other idea would be to use a traditional distributed audio system and surround sound receiver for the surround sound instead of trying to task the whole project from a single component.

That's kinda where I'm leaning towards is a full distribution system, I was weighting my options.
As far as controlling a distributed system would I be better off getting an automation controller or running it from a pc? I want the ability to control with a mobile device like an iPad.
That's why I had asked about the network capability.
Or could I use a reciever like you posted and run a couple power amps on top of that?

look at sonos, you can get as many zone as you wish and combine rooms to a single zone if you like. built in amps and music streaming capability.
