Need some troubleshooting advice.

I had a TV upstairs, wired to cable box with component video/audio cable set. I got a new TV, so moved this TV downstairs. WHen I moved it, I decided to use HDMI cable instead of the component cable (much smaller cable, etc). I could get the video coming through fine...but no audio at all.

Then, I went back to the component cables...and accidentally switched the blue/green cable at the back of the TV. Once I finally got this fixed, I was able to get video and audio, but the video was all pink! Please tell me that I didn't damage the TV just by accidentally switching these wires?

So - is there some magic setting somewhere that I need to change to get the audio to come through HDMI?
Did I damage my TV with the component cables? If not, how do I get rid of the pink?

The cable box is the standard issue Comcast HD DVR....Scientific America or whatever. The TV is a Sony XBR HD TV (not flat screen). It's about 5 years old.

Appreciate any advice!

It's unlikely that you damaged anything. The green cable probably just isn't seated properly. You may have to go into the STBs menu and configure it to send the audio via HDMI.

CIAO!

STB is set-top box. It's referring to your cable box.

Thanks man - this solved it! The sound to HDMI was not turned on in the STB configuration. All's good now.

Thanks again for your help!
