Hi all, I'm looking to add audio to four 2-speaker zones in my finished basement (gym, guest bedroom, bar area, and outdoor spa). I'm fine with same source to all rooms and am really just looking for amplifier recommendations and confirmation of my volume control selection. For volume, I found these at Monoprice. For speakers, I've ordered the Emotiva 8.2 in-ceilings for the interior and their outdoor speakers for the exterior. The 2 speakers per zone are for background music without a defined listening position, so I'm thinking mono may make more sense than stereo. Are there amps that will take a stereo preamp output (from my theater pre/pro Integra 80.3), convert it to mono, and make it available to multiple (~8) channels?

Thanks,
Mike

Read about DVC (Dual Voice Coil) speakers.

Is the cabling installed?

No cabling yet, planning to do in next week or two.

Have read a bit about DVC speakers, but for some (admittedly non-expert) reason had me thinking a mono signal to amp channels would make sense. Totally open to suggestions, though.

thank you!

4 wires to each speaker location, wired to the head end, will have you covered for both standard and DVC speakers. You may opt to switch from mono to stereo, in 1 or more zones, after living with the system in mono for a couple years.

If you hire a pro, and request mono, he may wire for a 70 volt system, which you probably couldn't switch to standard stereo easily, in the future.
