have these outlets/boxes on all 4 walls of living room, spread out. are they speaker outlets? couldnt really find anything on google due to not knowing what to really search for.

Where do they go? They appear to be RCA audio jacks. But the wire looks like speaker wire. Seeing the back would tell us more, and more importantly, where do they go at the other end?

Looks like screw down speaker terminals to me, based primarily on the wire I'm seeing.

Jautor is correct. It looks like a Bose Acoustimass system that was installed. The Bose systems uses speaker wire with RCA connectors on them to connect to the bass module.

so really no use to me then i guess.. probably just cover them with blanks

Well, it's speaker wire, so you can route a speaker to that location (surround?) from wherever the other end is... If that's of any use.
