I will be hooking up to the Sonos Connect Amp using 6 ohm speakers with volume control to one room and 8 ohm speakers with volume control to another room. Speakers will be connected in parallel. What should both of my volume controls settings be? 1x, 2x, 4x,8x

What if both pair were 8 ohms then what would the settings be?

The Sonos amp is 4-ohm stable, so using the 2x setting on both pairs will get you above 4-ohm.

"2x" for two pairs. That would get 8 ohms. At the 1x setting, that would be 4 ohms.

There should be a chart in the volume control's manual that shows all this... Here's one for a Xantech model, but they'll be the same:
