And you won't. With that many zones and the very reasonable desire to control volume independently, you need a whole house audio (WHA) system for those 8 zones. A WHA system would also give you considerably more flexibility in terms of selecting sources in different rooms, turning rooms on/off easily without having to adjust volume in every other zone, etc.
Even the ATON DLA6 doesn't seem to have individual zone volume controls
Sure is does, through any of the control methods.
nor can you connect it to the network.
Not directly, but can be rigged up via an iTach and iRule.
I can now see the appeal of having a Sonos AMP Connect in each zone as that would give me everything I want PLUS the ability to select any source I want for each zone, not that I would do that, but still. The Sonos app is so sweet, lettting you see each zone on one screen and contorling on/off/volume/source, but at $500 per amp, that's a little steep.
Can be done for less with an HTD system, but won't be as elegant.
There has got to be a better solution and I just thaven't come across it.
The NuVo P3100 (or a couple of them) would do great, but, like the Sonos, will be about $500/zone. So yes, there are solutions available, but they aren't anywhere as cheap as a simple speaker selector - and the difference in functionality justifies it...
