My SMS3 just died. It no longer boots. I assumed it was a hard drive failure. I have a back-up hard drive image, so I swapped it with the original. Still woouldn't boot. Went to Fry's, bought new memory. Still wouldn't boot. It may be the CPU, but I am done troubleshooting. My wife always hated how difficult it was to build a playlist on the SMS3. I just bought a Mac Mini, going with iTunes now. There are only two of us in the house, we don't need three different audio streams. Now I just have to sort out how to convert the Russound library to iTunes and keep the meta data.

Sorry, enough about me. I also have a 160 GB original disk image. If you still need it, I believe I have what you need. Let me know how to contact you, and I can send you the 160 GB hard drive. I used this image to copy to a 500 gig hard drive, and then re-sized the partition with partition magic to take advantage of the larger disk space.

What part of the country are you in?
Hey can I get that image?? I have a 160 HD failure on my SMS3 sddavidl at Hotmail dot com
It's on an IDE drive. I think I can resize the media portion of the image. So whatever size you can send me should be fine.

If you know of a way to do this better, and you are willing to talk me through it, I am happy to try it.

I also have problem's with a faulty harddrive on my sms3.
Are You still up for helping a russound owner which desperatly need help ?
Well meanwhile, I tried to buy a used unit off eBay to get ahold of a good hard drive. eBay unit also arrived with a bad hard drive. I could REALLY use some help in finding a good image or working hard drive.
