Thanks very much. I'm still getting used to using the system and am thinking of a few ways to streamline it.
I'm really happy with the Sonance controller/amp. Really responsive with the rs232/iRule control. Seems to have enough power at 30 watts to drive the bookshelf speakers I have in the living room and family room with ease.
I'm a tinkerer at heart. When I started with iRule I was unaware of any of this kind of stuff. I was familiar enough with A/V hookup but had never attempted networking, IR learning, Linux computing, rooting tablets and phones, or whole home a/v of any kind.
Today, about 4 years after my wife gave me an ipod touch for xmas and I looked at it and said, "what can I do with this thing?" I have a 4x4 HDMI matrix feeding TVs in 4 rooms with PS3, XBMC, and 2xDTV boxes as sources. An unraid server providing content to the XMBC, RPi, a Dune player and our phones. Over 30 devices with static IP addresses and now a budding whole home audio distribution system. I've fallen down the rabbit hole for sure. i've learned a ton from the AVS forum in general and this sub section specifically (spend a lot of time in the remote section iRule thread). I applied what I learned, rounded the edges to meet my needs for self install and low cost and this is what I wound up with.
