Question Trying to choose 4x4 matrix switch w/HDBT

I need to purchase a 4x4 matrix with HDBaseT and PoE/PoC/PoH support to install next weekend in our new house. I'll be running Cat6 cables, and no run will be longer than 60-70 feet, so I'm expecting that part to go pretty smoothly.

After 2+ weeks of research, I'm still stuck trying to decide between Atlona, Muxlab and Octava. The Octava unit has expandability, but our house is moderately sized and I can't really see ever needing more than four outputs. The Muxlab kit is substantially less expensive than the other two, but that in itself raises some concerns in my mind!

We won't be using RS-232 control anywhere (no home automation system), and no bidirectional IR either: just a simple configuration with (most likely Harmony) remotes at each TV controlling that TV, the switch and the selected source. Sources will be a FiOS DVR, a FiOS STB, an Apple TV and a Samsung Blu-Ray player.

I don't see a comprehensive 'Best Of...' thread here for this type of device, so I'm here looking for the advice of this esteemed crowd :-)

Seems like there isn't a lot of information on hdbaseT matrix switches. I'm in the market for one too, I had been leaning towards the Atlona myself. There are fairly good prices on them @ Amazon. The one thing that is missing though is both HDMI and hdbaseT outputs. Some of the pro models seem to have both, which would be quite handy to use it as a pass-through.

I just finished an atlona install in my house, it went well. The atlona 6x6 has 2 zones with hdmi and hdbaset. I used the atlona wall plate receivers.

How fast is it switching between sources?

It just kills me though at ~$4400 you basically could buy an Oppo, AppleTV, and whatever sources you wanted for every room and still come out ahead. It sure looks nice though! Congrats on the successful install.

About 2 secs, it's about the same as switching hdmi inputs at the tv, so it must be mostly the tv/hdmi negotiation not really a delay from the switch.

I will post some pics tomorrow, pics don't seem to work well for me on my iPad

I decided to go with the Octava switch, it should arrive today and I'll be installing it next week.

The 4x3 unit, as we only have 3 viewing locations at this point but could have a fourth soon.

Ahh, unfortunately it's still sitting in the box, as a larger renovation project in the house took nearly 2 months longer than planned.
