Hi All,
I am a fairly new here and I need some help setting up home theater.
So I bought a home theater (Sony DAV-DZ170 Home Theater) recently and now after doing some research I have seen that lot of people have had trouble setting up home theater with surround sound. Before buying a TV I wanted to ensure that I am able to achieve surround sound experience with the setup that I am thinking.
1. Sony DAV-DZ170 Home Theater - Already bought.
2. Planning to buy Sony KDL40R380B
Here is the setup that I am thinking of doing:
For video: Laptop HDMI -> TV HDMI
For Audio: TV Digital Optical Audio Out -> Home Theater Receiver Digital Optical Audio In.
So I have a basic question. If I play a movie with Digital Dolby surround sound on my laptop (assuming my laptop sends the audio signal unaltered i.e. 5.1 ch) , would this TV bypass that audio signal as is to the home theater via the Digital Optical Audio out?
To extend this setup, I was also thinking of buying Roku 3 Streaming media player also and connect it to TV via HDMI. So again if I play any movie from Netflix that has DTS 5.1 audio, would the TV bypass that audio signal to the receiver or down-convert it to Stereo?
Thanks
