I'm in the market for rear speakers for a small room. Quality is secondary to ease of wiring. I cannot run new wires easily, but have three kinds of existing wiring that connect across the room.
1. Power
2. Telephone
3. CAT-5

I'll need to buy speakers, too, because I've misplaced the unpowered pair that came with my Pioneer AM/FM/amp.

What's the least expensive solution? Stereo wireless seems pretty expensive for this use. http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/confused.gif

For about $100 each, you can purchase balanced line drivers and receivers. This will allow you to use the CAT5 for your speaker cabling. www.audiocontrol.com

I can't believe I'm going to suggest this but since this will work and your quailty is secondary. Here we go.

Cat 5 has 4 pair of wires
Use one pair for the + of the left rear and the 2nd pair for the - of the left rear.

Use the third pair for the + of the right ear and the fourth pair for the - of the right rear.

Now before I get flammed I just want to say I would never do this. As an installer I'll always find a way. (My disclamer and Flame retardent)

I can't believe you mentioned it either. There are times when no action is the best alternative. DBCooper you may be better off waiting until you have a larger budget to work with. Until then be satisfied with the audio from your TV.
