I need to run cables (1 video, 2 audio) with RCA plugs from my modulator to my satellite receiver. It is about 25 to 30ft. Can I use an RG6 cable using an "F" female to RCA male adapter for the video? How about audio? I would prefer to use something I can get locally and since the signals are going through a modulator, I don't think it's necessary to buy high (high cost) quality custom made cables. Does anybody have any other ideas for reasonably priced cables that I can get quickly. Thanks.

I have a run of at least 25 feet from the A/V receiver in my family room to a modulator in the basement. I used RG-6 coax with F to RCA connectors (just like you described) for video and light gauge speaker wire with RCA connectors for audio. Works great in my application.

RG-6 Quad shield (one aluminium foil shield and one copper) with a solid copper center conductor (most 'cheap' RG-6 uses copper clad steel).

Just ran 100 foot run of RG-6 Quad Shield from my Replay TV to a modulator with the F to RCA adapters on each end. Signal looks great -- better than I expected.

HTH, YMMV, but 25-30 feet shouldn't be a problem with good cable.

If it won't produce 500 watts per channel through a direct short, you need more power.
