I'm looking for a way to control a Pioneer RPTV (SD-532-HD5)
from an IR control unit w/o having to setup an IR blaster
from across the room. There are two mini jacks on the
back labeled control. Does anyone know if these are IR
based or a proprietary protocol? If IR, whos equipment
they are compatible with?

(BTW, the IR sensor is built in to the screen and I definately
don't want to stick an emitter on it)

I've heard that there may be an internal IR sensor that
can be accessed somehow???

The mini jacks you are talking about are for connection pioneer dvd players and receivers, they will not do you much good.

You can, however access the IR inside the television, but you have to take it apart a bit. Where are you that you cannot point the remote at the TV? I have never heard of anyone needing to control the television when they are not right infront of it.

I'm in the process of putting in a wall mounted touch panel
control system. I'd like to turn the TV on & off (and include
in marcros) with out having to use (find) the remote which
is usually not in sight...

Can you elaborate on where inside the IR connection (sensor?)
is and what you have to remove to get at it? Is it a normal
sensor which will respond to an IR emitter or is it an
electrical connection?

Thanks for the input.

Honestly I have no idea where the IR sensor is, my custom installers are the ones who work with that stuff. I would asume it is easy to find inside the set. Its got to be near the projector portion of the television (inside) I would think.
