Rhett,

Take a look at -

http://www.russound.com/catalog/item.lasso?item=CA44PI

http://www.request.com/

Im currently working on a project with the CA6.4L version of the Russound and it's working out great.

Good Luck,

Hi all.

One question that will probably be a very long answer. What additional equipment would I need to purchase in order to have different zones in my house (approximately 4) and be able to listen to different music in each zone. Basically a list of items that I would need to purchase.

Here is what I have.
denon avr3200
denon 5 disk cd player
toshiba sd2108 dvd

Here is what I think I need, and amp, a second or third source of music, wall switches, and speaker wires.

Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Rhett

Rhett,

You need a preamp capable of routing simultaneous inputs to multiple outputs (AKA a matrix switcher), a multi-channel amplifier, and a way to control the gear from the remote locations. You can build your own, or purchase a pre packaged soultion. All in one box products, basically multi-zone receivers, are available from AudioAccess and B&K. Elan, Xantech, Audio Control, ADA, Intellinet, Niles, Sonance, Russound, Linn and a host of others offer packaged (some assembly required) solutions at varying price points. DIY sources number in the hundreds, there is a fair amount of computer related hardware that can be used for this purpose. There is an organization of professional installers, CEDIA, that can help you if you lose your way.

In addition to jcm's list, please check out: www.matrixaudiodesigns.com
They have a wonderful product that anyone can program. It is a multizoned
music distribution system with a 20year warranty. Sorry, I didn't mean for this to sound like a sales pitch. I wanted to make the point that it is a easy to install system, similar to Russound.
