Hello all. I am wondering what is the best way to: Push one button and have the dvd start ( at the actual movie )not menu. Lights dim, screen come down and projector start. I have a B&K processor and marquee projector. Crown lighting/ two wall sconces/ rope lighting/ 8 small halogen down lights. Thanks.

It completely depends on how much money you want to spend. You could get a Panja Axcent-3 or NXI-M and a touchpanel to control everything:

dvd - IR
Lights - rs232
screen - relay
projector - rs232
B&K processor - IR

This would leave you with tons of future potential and the ability to still control 4-6 more IR devices, 7 relays and 6 RS-232 devices. You'd have to go through a dealer for equipment and programming. I'd imagine pricing might be in the $6000 range.

There's probably a Crestron alternative for a comparable amount as well. I'm sure somebody here has probably hacked together a Pronto to do something similar for a quarter of that, but it'd require all sorts of third party products.

Not all DVDs will respond to the "PLAY" command button. Some require going through the menu and selecting "enter".

I need a girl whos name does not end in .jpg

The first part of your idea would be very difficult to do. It all depends on the DVD. Some have the movie start up right away (and with the wrong soundtrack: 2.0 instead of 5.1) as soon as the disc goes in the player. Some start up with a menu. Some start up with commercials (Disney I hate you!), etc.

They should standardize things.

Some people use Crestron touch panel controllers. Some have programmed their Pronto remotes for macros. You need an IR distribution network though.

Listen up, studios! Just say "NO" to DNR and EE!!
