Hi there,

I am designing a six zone system and have been looking at the systems & components(pre amp, amp, keypads etc) from Xantech and Russound, both are in the price range I am considering. One thing I particularly want to do is install 1 gang keypads that double as IR receivers. I know that Russound has these, but I cannot tell from the Xantech spec sheets if their Smartpad3 offers this. Can anyone speak to this and the relative quality of either system, or any others I should consider?

The Xantech does not. There is an accessory infrared receiver that will fit in a second gang however.

you may also want to look at a company called Kustom. if you compare its specs of the 4640 to that of russound's 6.4 they are practically identical(led not lcd keypads). Kustom was the one who first came out with this layout and then russound. at least thats what the guys from Kustom said(maybe they just wanted to look good to win our business). Kustom is cheaper than Russound but from our experience we haven't had any problems. you may get what you pay for(a name and reputation) but like I say we haven't had any problems so you may want to try it.
