Are there any "attractive" in-wall speakers? As often is, it's a WAF issue. My wife doesn't like white rectangular grills or even ones painted to match the walls. (She's much more willing to go with ceiling speakers, but isn't their quality subpar to in-walls?) Does anyone know of in-walls that perhaps have "artsy" grills maybe painted or paintable or something? Preferably no *overly* expensive? http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thx,
Max

There are some out there with a little searching.

Sound Advance is simply the best, because you can't see them,as they are "drywalled" into the ceiling or wall. Excellent sound, warranty and Not Cheap. Only trained installers. About $1200 per pair.

Some from Elan : http://www.elanhomesystems.com/

And some cool wall art speakers you can change with the times : http://www.gekkoaudio.com/ -j

Jamo makes an few on wall loudspeakers that are fairly attractive, the ART, the Graphic, and the Artina (AKA A500, A5100, A610). They have also manufactured a decorative version of the ART that had a modern impressionist style finish named the Art Deco. Bay Audio makes some fine inwall loudspeakers, the JTi and JMi, that have frameless magnetic grills that take paint readilly. Most of the other inwall makes can be painted, make sure the grills are metal, not cloth covered, and thin the paint 6:1.

I was able to get a hold of a pair of the Sound Advance speakers and did the installation myself. It is A LOT of work but it was worth it; you can not see them at all and they sound great!! My wife is very pleased with the results.

Unfortunetly, the place I bought them from is now out of business so I can't get any more http://www.avsforum.com/ubb/frown.gif
