On a serious note, one of the things I've learned in business is that referrals can come from the strangest of places and it never hurts to make friends with just about everyone you run into professionally from the obvious people like the client to the electrician and plumber on the job. One of the largest jobs I ever got came from a window salesman that was making a sales call on a huge construction project. He didn't even get the window sale but while he was there he referred me onto the project because I had been cordial with him on another project. It always amazes me how business sometimes ends up on our doorsteps.

and the best part, the referral didn't cost you any money to harvest......unless, you threw a little something at him. or maybe perhaps you hooked him up on the next/another project. ;)

We were kind of thinking about, "... our company consumes clinically dangerous amounts of caffeine and abstains from physical intimacy in order to offer you..." But it's just an idea, and we aren't married to it.

Now that is funny LOL. Be careful with truth in advertisement laws on that last statement though... Technically speaking all of that one handed typing you do on the internet may count as physical intimacy in a court of law...:D :D :D

Actually, if you read the fine, fine, fine print, it explains that with our looks, abstaining from physical intimacy in order to bring you an excellent automation experience is fairly easy to accomplish.

Chris,

Are you being serious? That's a bit of a strange post considering the way the thread ended and that we're all getting along. Did you read the entire thread?

I know you can't be serious because I'm known as "Mr. Nice Guy" around here ;).

I came about half a page late in the thread, perhas I should say you were being an ass.

I actually think Q has gotten softer with time....

Also I think this thread was ridiculously silly, I woulda left a long time ago if I were dean.

Well, that's the problem when you don't know the history behind things. It's sort of like me jumping into the CRT forum and saying "why are they giving this raster guy such a hard time" :D? NOT that I'm comparing Dean to raster, but I was not being an ass - it was all about "tough love" :D.

I just read through this thread because I may have a good buy on AMX 6" touch panel and it made me sad. Two of my favorite objective posters getting down and dirty-QQQ and Dean. Dean has invested his heart and soul in his product and thinks Crestron is overpriced. He has strong opinions and does not typically budge. QQQ, who I believe is an installer and uses and codes Crestron products, thinks Dean is a know it all who has sold no product. Really sad IMO that it disolved into this type of tit for tat exchange.

But I finished the thread and it seemed to get back to a more positive note. As Emily Latella (sp?) use to say "never mind".

Randy,

Don't worry about us. Dean and I are doing OK, at least this week. We're even bonding and having little coffe clutches at Starbucks and talking about which women we'd "do" as they walk by :D.

p.s. The only post I've never gotten over from Dean was when he refered to Jennifer Garner in a thread as "manly". Sometimes he's confused.

Cool.

I missed the post about Jennifer. By the way, rumour has it she is off the market for a day or two.

Guys,

So it is possible to create a <$1000 wireless touchscreen... I don't care what anyone says, Crestron is charging way too much for their gear, but then again they are after a totally different market. A market where people drive Bentley's and Rolls-Royce's to the Tennis Club. I'm not there yet ;), so I look for products that do the task and fit the bill. Maybe Crestron will rebadge this, like they did with the 10.4" iSys (Viewsonic V210)

Check it out... Pepper Pad ! Thoughts?

And I don't care what anyone says, there is no such thing as "charging too much for their gear". In a capitalistic society, pricing is all about supply and demand and competition and *as long* as Crestron continues to do well and be highly profitable they are not "charging way too much for their gear". Now if you said "Crestron is charging way too much for what I think it's worth" I'd have no disagreement with your statement. Which is really what I think you are saying anyhow but I had to quibble :).

My thought is that for $850 it's fricken incredible and I love the fact that it doesn't have to boot. I wish instead of or in addition to the qwerty keyboard they had a nicer layout of buttons for volume up/down/mute etc. but for $850 I can't complain much.

QQQ,

I agree... I should have worded it differently...

"Crestron is charging way too much for what I think it's worth" :)
