An 8x8 Matrix switch? I'm at CEDIA right now, and haven't seen anything that large, even in prototype stages.

We're working in partnership with several companies with core competencies in HDMI, and the technology is still prohibitive for such large HDMI matrix systems at this point.

We have a prototype 4x4 matrix right now, but we're not that excited about it - cable run length, for one, is still a major limiter for HDMI systems of that type even though the matrix itself works very well.

Trent, Then I guess that wasn't you I saw heading West on I-20 at the LA-TX border Saturday afternoon around 6 PM in I think a Jaguar with license plates AV8TRX. I really wasn't paying much attention until the car got past me, but the license plates definitely read AV8TRX

Not to rain on the parade but I took the license plate as aviator x or aviator 10.

I actually took it as "Aviatrix", which of course, is the term used on occasion for a female pilot.

I just did the 2.2 software update, from the 1.8 that came in the unit when I installed it in June. I was also not able to find release notes so I did the update hoping it would address a weird problem. It did not.

The weird problem I am having is that at one wall plate I get no audio (digital or analog, both are connected) from source 3. This source is a Directv HR20 receiver/DVR. Here is why this is weird: The audio from that source is fine on the other 3 wallplates up and running, and I have a second HR20 connected to source 2 which delivers audio fine to all rooms, as do source 1 and 4. Any body else experience any weird audio issues like this?

And by the way, after upgrading to 2.2 the 1108 router no longer routes correctly, now it passes commands to the wrong source sometimes. Once it starts, it will stay sending commands to the wrong source until you change source away and back again, but when someone else (another wall plate in use) changes source it runs the risk of messing up and sending IR to the wrong source.

Does anyone know where I can get 1.8 do downgrade back again.

I think this is the 1.8 software...I am away from my AVAtrix and can't check what rev it is on. This file is dated 2/14/07

If it was an older Jaguar, that license plate might denote that the Jaguar is "lumped", i.e, Chevy V8 Transplant ("AV8TRX"), largely popular conversion. Great for the southwest as you can easily cruise at 120+ with the Jaguar's tall rear gearing, chevy tranny, and modestly built small-block.

Firmware version 2.2 has been rock solid for me since I installed it a couple months ago. I don't use the 1108 router though.

Trent,

In the future, will you be able to buy an Avatrix system and get the 9879 wallplates instead of the 9878, or will you always have to buy them separately?

Hi Everyone,

As of yesterday morning, we launched our new website - it's obviously a large step from the old one, and should be able to provide better information and be simpler to navigate.

You'll see some "Coming Soon" products listed there, but until it says "Where to Buy" or "Add to Cart", they're not available to ship!

The 1109, 9879, 9880, and 1172 are all new AVAtrix line products, which are all listed there.

Please let me know through PM (not on this thread, to avoid clutter) if you see any glitches or have problems on the website, and we'll get them fixed.

Trent

MurrayW, thanks for posting the firmware file. I needed it. The one you posted was 2.0 and it is currently running on my system. The upgade I did to 2.2 certainly cleaned up the IR system, with fewer skipped or duplicated button presses. However, for anyone using the 1108 router to seperate IR for identical sources, the 2.2 release breakes the router. Audio Authority have found the issue and are working on it. In the meantime I will keep running 2.0. For those of you running anything less than 2.2 and are not using the 1108, the IR responsiveness is much improved.

Interesting... any info on why this would happen with identical sources? I wouldn't have thought that the 1108 knows/cares what the source is other than which input it's connected to on the Avatrix.

I was wondering what you found out regarding the 2.2 firmware upgrade and compatibility of Channel vision IR receivers. I have my eye on the channel vision IR-2202. It's supposedly lcd, plasma friendly and a heck of a lot less money than xantech's version.

Dave, that is an exceedingly weird symptom...I spoke with Service, and it appears they're in conversation with you about this, so I'll leave the troubleshooting to them on this issue. I'm not even aware of a way that this could happen, electronically, especially if it worked previously.

We're beta testing FW version 2.3, which will fix the 1108's irregularity under 2.2. Could be out as early as next week, pending outcomes of the field testing.

FW 2.2 includes a fix that should greatly improve compatibility with the Channel Vision IR receivers. We still can't specifically recommend them to be used with the AVAtrix, especially new models like the one you mention that haven't been tested by us.

Ok, so I tried one of the channel vision IR receivers and it seems to work fine. I bought one of their plasma friendly ones. I'm not sure if it really is as I have one TV that seems to really overload the xantech reveivers for the first 1 minute of opperation. On the channel vision receiver the indicator light does not come on when the TV is turned on but I can't get signals to work for about 30 seconds so I'm assuming it's being overloaded a little less. Maybe a different model would be better. By the way I bought their IR-2105 model.

Hello everyone,

I'd like to announce, that after a long wait, the promised Models 9879 and 9880, Audio Authority's new Cat 5 receivers, are here, and shipping!

The 9879 is a single-gang Cat 5 wallplate, while the 9880 is a self-contained breakout box that can be surface mounted.

These can be ordered over the phone or through the website. They are compatible with the AVAtrix, 1171, and 9871 drivers.

We'll be launching AVX-661-NR and AVX-561-NR systems soon that will be AVAtrix head-ends without wallplates so that the desired compliment of 9878, 9879, and 9880 can be selected for the same price.

The 9879 and 9880 are available for $199.00 MSRP, the same as the current 9878.

Thanks for all your patience in awaiting these products.

My Best,

Trent

We finally installed the system about a week ago. So far, so good
The system went like this:
3 dish HDDVR boxes to 4 televisions (he has 6 but 2 non hi-def so they just split duty on a dual output dish DVR instead for now, its wired to bring them into the matrix later if he wants to upgrade etc)
with 4 RF remotes from universal (2xgenesis, 2xMX850)
with a MRF350. We scrapped the MSC400 for various reasons and just used the direct IR input from the MRF350 instead of RS232.

I haven't gotten one complaint call and this customer was one of the most phone friendly customers I have ever had!

Hi "the rick",

I'm still getting my feet wet with all this technology. Could you explain in a little more detail how you are using the remotes with the MRF350?

The Dish boxes and the avatrix are in the same room, correct?

Thanks,

John

Yes, that is exactly the case. We setup an equipment closet with 4 sat boxes, the avatrix and the MRF350. It just happened to reach all 4 remotes because the closet was upstairs but central in the home (probably a 2500sqft house roughly). I don't know about what program was installed exactly as my programmer did it but he's really really good. He managed to program all 4 remotes with the matrix system and two them also operated two independent local surround systems in just under 4 hours, not bad

Why did you need the MRF350? Is there something with this that is better or provide something that you could not achieve with the 987x wallplates and IR receivers connected to each wall plate?

I'm still trying to get up to speed on a/v distribution, so thanks for everyone taking the time to post their experiences.

CAn anyone recomend a good remote control that seems to work well with the avatrix system. I'm used several Pronto 1000's but am getting kind of frustrated with things not be reliable. At times I have to power cycle the avatrix to the it working right. I'm not sure it's an avatrix issue but could be that the Pronto's are getting old. Sometimes I have to power cycle the Pronto's as well. Anyway, suggest away.
