Well, after reading a bit more in the manual and become familiar with the menus, I got it to work. Must have missed to set the correct input.

Thanks anyway.

You realise that it'll be something much higher in budget to your current combination? While it would probably improve the HDMI handshaking delays of having two boxes instead of one, I'm not sure a doubling in price is worth it for that. Of course the 4K ability is another matter, but it'll be some time before I have a 4K display.

The $ hit may be somewhat moderated by the trade-in of the Mini3d; depends on how generous this trade-in is.

Yes it will, but it would have to be a very generous trade in to make it worthwhile for me anyway. I know you guys seem to get a better deal on AV prices than us in the UK, so that has to be factored in too. I'll keep an eye open as being an early adoptor with Lumagen doesn't worry me half as much as for other products/companies. smile.gif

I have had a Lumagen Vision, an HDP and my Radiance XD was purchased in 8/07 while still considered a beta unit. I too am currently intending to wait a couple years to get a 4k set. However, if the new Lumagen 4k vp had some features that would improve my 1080p performance, I could be tempted to be an early adopter (again). The one item that comes to mind is something like a 10x10x10 3D LUT. HOPE Jim and Company are monitoring this thread!!

You want new or used?
For New, check curtpalme.com. It had some special combo (end in 1/15) and the mini is also quite cheap.

Just wanted to update my situation with 1080p60. Had a great experience with Lumagen customer support (including Patrick here on the forum smile.gif ) and the whole process from the time I shipped my Mini out until it hit my doorstep yesterday was 8 days which I was very impressed by. They contacted me when they got the unit, emailed me again after they fixed, tested and shipped it back out. Cant ask for more than that. smile.gif Great experience though.

As far as the issue goes, so far so good! I only had about an hour to test it last night, but not a single drop in that hour. cool.gif All signs point to this being fixed which makes me happy.

JOOC, was this unit purchased new and defective out of the box? (I'm certainly not being critical if that is the case as caca happens to all mfgrs)....

I purchased a refurbished unit Geof. Apparently they had to just make a small hardware modification to fix the problems I was having.

Once I do an auto cal with ChromaPure, do I need to do anything in the Mini other than select and choose 'Save' in order to retain my calibration?

It saves automatically at the end of the calibration, so you don't need to do anything, just put the gear away and start enjoying some movies, speaking of which, I'm off to do just that. smile.gif

That is great to know Kelvin, thanks! I was paranoid yesterday doing the auto cal about making sure to save, but its great to know I dont have to worry about it. cool.gif

Speaking of enjoying movies, I decided on Samsara for my first post calibration movie experience last night and WOW! If you have not checked out this disc on your X35, you need to! Amazing PQ.

I would say no. I haven't done a calibration yet to check the differences but I believe there is a shift in color when I go from low to high..

I'd run a quick pre-Cal to see the results.

The colour temp will change, On my old HD350 I found that it had more red in high lamp so required different RGB gain settings.

Yes, it does change "slightly"...However, in general i don't care that much especially if you already tune in to a pretty good dE on the low lamp, and you are doing it on a few occasions. If you do plan to use HIGH lamp more, of course you will want to recal using HIGH lamp setting.

I found it was more than 'slight' on my HD350. It was a good 5-6dE difference if memory serves. Of course it doesn't effect gamma so at least the image quality appears the same in terms of shadow detail and image depth in bright scenes. I've even seen it said that changing the iris setting can change the colour temp slightly too, so I tend to calibrate for 16:9 and 2.35:1 as even using a an A lens I still need different iris settings, but this is on my X35 and I won't be using high lamp due to ample brightness on my 1.5 gain screen and also the high noise when the X35 is in high lamp.

I have a DVDO Duo and a Lumagen Mini....here's the chain: Sources > Duo (audio out to receiver) > Mini-3D > Display (Samsung PN58C8000)
My problem is that the Duo thinks the Lumagen wants a 1080i RGB signal, no matter what the source is....example: Input = YCbCr 4.4.4. 1080p, Output = RGB 1080i (this is what the Duo's info is, and the Lumagen is receiving the RGB 1080i).

The only way I'm able to change it at all, is to change the Lumagen's "HDMI Video EDID Features" to "Passback Out1". Then the Duo will send 1080p, but still only RGB. My goal is to send the sources original signal to the Lumagen.

Any help with this will be much appreciated, thanks.

Since your DUO connects to the AVR as well, could it be that hte AVR HDMI info is incorrect?
If you take away the Lumagen, did you have the issue that Lumagen is receiving (requesting??) RGB?
I also thought you can change the input of Lumagen to accept 444 only.
Have you also try taking out DUO and connect Lumagen only and does it pass YCbCr444 directly?

The AVR is just receiving audio from the Dou, but I've also tried without it even connected.

The Lumagen on it's own is fine, and the Duo on it's own is fine. It's when I put them in the chain together, that they act up. I think it's on the Duo's end......

Thanks for the reply.

Will you be doing all the setup yourself, or are you getting a Calibrator in?
If you're going the DIY route - let us know how you get on.
What display(s) will you be driving?
Are you going to try the 125-point cube cal?

Regards, Mike.

Have experienced some picture drop outs lately in form of either a grey or green blank picture when playing content from both my Oppo 93 and AppleTV3.
The drop outs usually happens after an hour of watching and can be helped by re-starting the Mini3D.

I have both sources connected to my AVR (Pioneer SC-LX72) and then to Mini3D. I also have a Darbee in the chain between the Mini3D and my projector.

Anyone else that have had the same experience?

What I read in darbee thread one should at all cost avoid cables shorter than 6ft..
But you may already read that :-)

e] make sure it's not overheating. Move it to a well ventilated area and test again.

The Mini packs 10 Watt thermal load in a small box and needs sufficient cooling. I designed the Mini to be mounted vertically on a wall to allow for convection cooling, in its originally intended application near or behind a flat panel.

Many RadianceMini-3D owners find it works fine on a open shelf. In fact we are now including plastic feet for those who want to set it on a shelf. Make sure the Mini is not above or near significant heat sources like power amps and has adequate air flow.

does the casing work as a cpu/gpu cooler? is it in touch with the chipsets so to speak? smile.gif
(i'm one of them who hates my electronics running hot..so already thinking adding heatsinks for the chips...)
