I'm sure some people still have got an Optoma scaler unit at home. Back in the days Optoma charged $300 for unlocking those bundled HD3000 units, now you can do it yourself.

Anyway, Phil has posted about this last night and you can find the thread here:

And I want to stress that this is no hacked FW, nor a leaked "unlocking" FW. The FW update used to unlock the 720p-only units is the standard C05 firmware which was available from Optoma Europe upon request. Phil applied this to a locked US Version of the HD3000.

Unlock HD81 version of HD3000 scaler

I'm a longtime owner of an HD81. I looked in the forums again last night, as I had a stuck "blinking temperature light" situation. Finally solved via power cycling both PJ and HD3000.

I was intrigued to see that you were offering instructions, firmware and the programming software. I would love a copy.

I was inactive long enough that my account was deactivated and i now do not have enough posts to PM.

I'm curious if this firmware would make the HD3000 "standalone" for that inevitable time when my PJ finally bites the dust.
