It's my understanding from emailing after seeing the post above, that they would like to have people register their pre-order interest on the website which is included in the same link, and that they will have a means of doing a pre-order transaction directly on the website very soon. Do not know yet what "very soon" means.

Looks promising, but I'll wait to hear more comprehensive reviews (for example, what does it do in dark scenes?) and how it fares after long-term use.

If you are interested in one of these, please shoot me an email or give us a call. The price is only $249 MSRP plus a little shipping and I saw a prototype of this bad boy about 1 1/2 years ago at Cedia in Atlanta. I wanted it bad when I saw it and I want it bad now. I m willing to gamble my family fortune to order one sight unseen. I should have more details shortly

Mark, I remember you posting about it.

Did you see it with any dark scenes?

I ordered one when it became available. I did have a couple of questions though which were answered quickly.

The first was the stated 1.2ms delay and what bit depth this was measured at. The answer was 48 bit.

I find that the examples shown on the website look best using the blend option with the slider 1/2 to 3/4 toward the right of the image so I was curious what level of adjustment the Darblet would have. Each of the 3 modes have 24 levels of adjustment.

I have seen this with the EVAL circuit board some time ago, not a further tweaked production unit, with some of the dark scenes in the jungle in Avatar where Natiri first appears. Had same concern, but no issues and to my eyes it looked great in that situation.

Noah. Hi. I saw a prototype of this unit about 1 1/2 years ago. I can't rember the different material I looked at except some under the seas stuff. When I get one in for myself, I will ship it to you to try for a few days. Let's take this offline. Email me please, I can't PM.

I'm looking forward to some reviews or first hand impressions.

I'm interested in the Darblet, but right now this looks to me like a reincarnation of the PureAV Razorvision. Does anyone remember this from a few years ago ? Here's a reminder:

Some of the footage on the Darby site looks dramatically improved and some
looks like edge enhancement on steroids. Then again I am viewing on a crappy
computer monitor.I assume the examples on Darby were at 100 percent effect
and it is adjustable to your personal preference,so it looks promising.
Is the processing involved similar to the enhanced 3D effect that can be selected on normal blurays available on projectors like the new JVC's?
Is this going to be an AVS power buy?

In times where 1080p24 recording can easily done using a HDMI capture card, they should put a real showcase online or offer a demo BD for order, not some just some screenshots.

Hmmmm....looks interesting, and while I suspect it could really shine on pristine BD sources, I gotta wonder how it will handle the inherent artifacts of overly (or poorly) compressed broadcast/cable/Sat streams?

I wonder if there would be any benefit to having this run from a video processor I am currently waiting on the dvdo Iscan duo which I ordered yesterday. Will probably order either way because it looks cool

I not only remember the PureAV Razorvision, I still own it. I haven't used it in a long time. It does appear that the Darblet might have some similar technology to the Razorvision but be much more advanced. The Razorvision was not a useful product, creating far too much artifacting (ghosting, as I recall) most of the short time I used it. It was quickly pulled out of my system.

I found out about the Darblet while reading Widescreen Review yesterday. Based on the description and before going to their website I thought it might be a useful device for under $300 and was happy to find the retail price at $249. I'm willing to spend that kind of money to experiment with it.

I want to play with it before and after my Edge and without.

No review yet in Widescreen, but they mention that a review will be in a future issue. The mention of the Darbee is in the New CES 2012 Equipment section in Volume 21, Number 2 pages 12 and 13. Quote: "Widescreen Review will be the first to review this new imaging technology and report on its performance using calibrated displays."

I got an email from DarbeeVision today.

My Darblet is being manufactured in the USA!!!

Production is on schedule. There's no actual shipping date yet.

They asked who I would like to see distributing or reselling their products. I listed AVS as my number one choice (of five dealer/resellers).

Imagine that - actually being able to purchase an affordable CE product that's made here in the good old USA, in 2012!

Not bad at all. Lets hope it does what it says. I will be looking forward to hearing what you have to say and seeing the pictures to.
