I have the Onkyo TX-NR809 reciever with the HQV chip and a Mitsu 82" DLP. When I use custom mode and set the color saturation to 100% and play broadcast TV colorful music performances the flesh tones remain intact. However for News and other broadcasts this wrecks the flesh tone. All content is either 1080i or 720p uncompressed TV from an antenna.

on blurays this also over saturates the color, probably because the bluray is sending so much color already.

Is it the background colors of music performances that make the difference?

Are there any articles that explain what the HQV is doing?
With the right content it really works great.
