I see it for $148.99 in Amazons Lightning deal. WHat is the difference between the original Darblet and the DVP-5000S? I have two Darblets that I got back in 2012 but I can't really use them in my 4K setup. When is a 4K Darbee processor supposed to be released?

Nicer case, different remote, no 4K support, no significant difference in processing. Better to wait for a device that supports 4K, IMO.

While I agree completely, I have a Panasonic ZT60, that is "only" 1080p, and that is my TV for the next several years, so, I am not loosing anything by buying the current version.

Also, I would bet that the new version will be more expensive than this deal, while that is not a deal breaker for me, it is always good to save 100+ dollars or so.

If you don't already have a Darblet, then by all means go for the 5000S. If you already have a Darblet, it isn't worth the upgrade. And who knows if the 4K-capable Darblet will be more expensive--we will cross that bridge in the future.

Is there any hope that the current Darblets will be upgrade-able (for a fee, of course) to 4K, or are we speculating completely about 4K at this point?

Sorry, Michael, zero chance, not at this price point.

Hey guys I think its time I jump on the Darbee bandwagon. I have a Sony 55ES projector and a Denon 4200 receiver. Ill be using a Monoprice 40' cabernet cable.
So with that being said is there any difference between the 5000s and the 5100. I realize that I may have to buy used/refurbed for the 5100.

If anyone wouldnt mind a quick pro/con between the two I would appreciate it.
I like the 5100 as it will work better in my A/V rack but either one isnt a deal breaker.

Thanks!!
