Dear AVS forum -

I am looking for a new video processor ...
Here is my current equipment:
- Sharp LC80LE844U
- Denon AVR-3312CI
- DVDO iScan VP30
- Sony Playstation for BluRays
- Comcast HD box for cable
- AppleTV 1st gen
- PC

I recently swaped my old (2004) 60" Sony back projection TV for the Sharp 80" LED.
And with the new Denon I disconnected the DVDO thinking I would not need it anymore ... But I was unhappy with the picture quality (independent which input source). So I started to play with all the different image processors in all the different equipment ... I ended up switching everything off and putting the DVDO back in the chain ... But since the VP30 does not output 1080p I am looking for a new video processor (<2k$).

Any recommendations?

FYI, the DVDO iScan Duo can be bought for less than $1K, supports 1080p and has full CMS.

You probably meant to write that the VP30 does not handle 1080p input, right ?

Because the VP30 does output 1080p just fine and it's still a very nice processor for SD processing and upscaling.

VP30 will passthrough 1080p. It will not do any processing on it. VP30 also will not handle lossless audio or multi-ch PCM. I have a VP30 in my bedroom. I figured a nice way to get most out of it.

get a Toshiba HD-A3 HD-DVD player. I bought mine for $20 on craiglist. This player is a terrific DVD player as it 480i over HDMI.

Connect A3(set to 480i), Apply Tv, Comcast cable into VP30
Connect PS3 and VP30 HDMI out to Denon, set denon to passthrough.

use Toshiba A3 for DVDs(excellent picture via VP30)

aspect ratio management on VP30 is super for SD ch with letterboxed movies, it will upscale better than others in your system.

VP30 wont upscale 1080i properly but still decent results.
