Hello,

I have been recording old home movies to my computer using the elgato video capture device. I have also tried with a tv tuner card. Both gives the same results.

The issue is that the video capture records a "jiggle" when camera is being moved around a lot. However, it doesn't show up when I play directly to the tv.

Here is an example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFAJba3VxFY

Any help would be appreciated. Any software or hardware that can help with this? I tried running it through the tv then to the card, but it didnt work. The jiggle still shows up. I assume the Tv out is just a pass through. Something on the tv is stabilizing it. What can i put between the VCR and the tuner / elgato device to do the same? or is thee some software for this?

It's been a while since I played with analog video out of a VHS deck but I'd suspect the fix is a device called a Time Based Corrector that will keep your video in sync between the two devices.

Yeah, you definitely need a TBC.

Some better SVHS decks or DVD or HDD recorders have this built into them, so if you simply route the video through the deck first and then into the recording device you should be fine.
Maybe you something standing around ? Or friends, or neighbours ?
