Hi. I am trying to induce windowboxing or pillarboxing on an hdmi video signal. Is there a processor/converter that will do this in real time? Preferably with adjustable width of the black area. I tried searching but found only people trying to remove windowboxing instead of adding it..

Generally, window and pillar boxing happens automatically in order to match the signal's aspect ratio to the display. If you feed a 4:3 signal to a 16:9 display, you'll get pillars and if you feed 2.35 to the same display you'll get window boxing. Manually changing the size of these black areas to something else will distort the picture's aspect ratio and nobody is looking for that feature. Well... few are looking for that.

My post doesn't answer your question, I know. But it may explain why no one has answered yet.
