Yes, the 5100 CIE won't be available until then. I'm just excited that they've announced something that is within my budget AND I get exactly what I need (rackmount, in black metal case, HDMI booster etc).

Everyone please check out indiegogo and make a pledge so Darbee can meet their goal and bring this product to fruition. eek.gif

^^^

I signed up for the 5100SE through Indiegogo: I have some concerns about this funding method but I love the Darbee technology: keeping fingers crossed

Is it hdmi 2.0/4K compatible? I will pledge if so.

No. Currently the only HDMI 2.0 chip is manufactured by Panasonic only and they are not selling their chip to anybody yet.

Hmm. Isn't shipping on this thing months away, such that they could easily source something by then?

It is not that easy as simply putting the chip in besides, Darbee don't have the quantity to order for Panasonic to even bat an eye hence there is no other unit out there other than Panasonic that is truly HDmI 2.0 certified

Lolwut? Are we not talking about a Darbee device due to ship in the middle of 2014? After what I'm 100% positive will be literally scores of tvs, bluray players, receivers. switchers, etc all shipping with hdmi 2.0 as standard hit the market?

Its not just HDMI 2.0, its also having the computer power to Darbeeize UHD and 4K. Of course there are trade offs that would enable a faster chip rather than one with more processing power, a much cheaper choice for Darbee, to be used but the Darbeeizing of 4K compared to the Darbeeizing of 1080p might not be as good. And I for one want an as good Darbeevision 4K processor. This would cost a lot more than the new coming 5100. But I would suggest PMing Dr. Darbee and telling him you want one and damn the cost.

PS: they can announce all they want at CES. I want to see the actual product. Companies have announced OLED TV from 5+ years ago and only now they're being shipped. Companies have announced autostereoscopy displays since 2007 and to this day we have yet to see a single product on the market.

Again, bookmarked. To be reviewed comparing CES announcements to 2014 shipments of actual hdmi 2.0 carrying products, of which there will be slews.

* Whats the price range for the unit> + $1,000?

I don't see it going for over $2,000

Since DVDO isn't including Darbee technology in ay of their products, this will be somthing I'll definatly be looking into.

if it's much over $500 they won't sell many. I mean it's basically a Darblet in a fancy case with an HDMI signal equalizer. it doesn't do 4K either.

Well, a very good HDMI extender easily costs $200. So if it is Darbee + PhaseHD + firmware field upgradeable, even at $800 it's worth the money for CI purposes.

The other month I heard that Dr. Darbee (is that his name) passed away. Sad. He was such a talented inventor.

"Doug Winsor" used to troll at some AV Forums as "Steve Bruzonsky"! My home theater at:

Why would someone come out with a new product in May of 2014 that is not HDMI 2.0...?

The DVP-5100 is not really a new product as far as the core technology is concerned. The Darbee processing is still the same as in the original DVP-5000. In my opinion, before even considering HDMI 2.0 they should properly implement a couple of HDMI 1.3 and 1.4 features that are not working currently:

xvYCC and ARC

Henry
Sharp LC-70LE857U
Onkyo HT-RC360
Mede8er MED600X3D

DarbeeVision Darblet DVP-5000

Synology DS1813+

X-Rite i1Display Pro

LOL, well if it was HDMI 2.0 the 1.3 and 1.4 features would arguably be updated...?

I would be interested to see if it prevents the purple flash the 5000 can produce especially through a HTPC.

Also, I have had mixed success (random problems) feeding the 5000 from a HTPC. Due to it outputting 24bit color(?).

Have there been any reviews yet?

^ for $499 CAD over here. Not bad, but the extra 200 bucks really need to make it much better than the 5000 IMO.

Or you can just get "videoEQ" on eBay for $50 and you'll get th same result (I run my 5000 to "videoEQ" and I then connect my 65ft HDMI to the projector.
