If it does everything as advertised and is $3K less then the previous model you'll have a winner.

You're shooting for October delivery, right? I saw that on the official upgrade thread, but just want to make sure that date is for new purchasers and not just upgrade people. Not holding y'all to anything, just trying to figure out when I have to trick the wife into letting me do this. :)

The HD Leeza will ship around October (please do not hold me to the dates). HD Native Pixel Card looks like will be ready for Christmas.

FREE Panasonic dvd with sdi, RP62.
I guess this is a US model which will only play R1 NTSC?
To have a regionfree hack performed here on this unit is not a problem but does it support PAL?

Roland,

You can get the SDI hack & multiregion done through JVB.NL. Not sure if KeyDigital can do that for us.

Hi Ofer

We can probably buy the kit and modify for multiregion but at additional cost. I am trying to find out costs. WHat does the unit sell for in Europe in US dollars, do you know?
Thank you

Michael,

Can't find the RA62 EGS anywhere tonite. Maybe too new to be listed in shops. It's older brother, the 61, lists for a refreshing USD 600 in Switzerland, wo sales tax.

The RP61 listed for about USD335 in the US. Oh and of course the RA62 does not have PAL progressive output (not that we care for this application, but still).

Now you know why Panasonic cares about Europe...

I am volonteering to distribute the HD Leeza in Europe. List price wo Sales tax: USD 7499. Of course, without free DVD player, what would happen to my margins?

JVB advertises the SDI modified with Multiregion RP62 as $570. They don't have multiregion RP82 yet.

i guessed $3,500 without the dvd weeks ago. not bad for not knowing anything about it. are you still selling them to current leeza owners for $999 or less?

Hey James,

I guess you haven't been following the news (where were you lately?). The upgrade price is $799 for KeyDigital customers (and they get to keep their LEEZAs too!).

http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...hreadid=162266

Also, KeyDigital announced a few other products: the Pioneer card (internal scaler card that fits inside pioneer plasmas), a Meridian 800 card (an internal scaler card for Meridian 800 systems that outputs native rate DVI, SDI, RGBHV) and a matrix Component switcher.

Check out their catalog (it's a BIG file, though!), it has some other interesting surprises (check out the PCI card called "KD-HTPC" in one of the last pages of their catalog).

Cheers,
Ofer LaOr

thanks, ofer. anybody not taking advantage of the upgrade, please contact me. congrats to kd for such an exceptional offer. makes me wonder how many leeza's are out there. they are either losing money on the upgrade or the msrp is way to high.

James,

The conditions are so that only the original buyer can take advantage of the offer (they are asking for CC receipts, confirmed KD distributor, etc.). I don't think 2nd hand unit owners will be able to utilize the offer.

I think that KD had a problem with the original LEEZA being taken off their catalog so quickly (due to the issues with you*know*who). I think they want to make it up to their customers, even by taking a loss (given all they have within this unit, I can't help but think they're taking a loss at such a low cost). I think that given this type of upgrade, they will have alot of happy customers.

Happy customers will surely boost their long term plan. So, they may lose some money on their existing customers - but they'll gain a whole lot of respect and a great reputation.

It's similar to Tivo subsidizing the hardware on their hardware - they see this as an investment for a long term plan.

Cheers,
Ofer LaOr

Mike,

For someone using a Pio 503, is there any advantage in the full HD Leeza over the Pio card?

Thanks,

Actually - since I already own a Leeza, a better way to ask the question may be - since the upgrade prices are going to be the same, is there any reason to go with one and not the other - besides the obvious two reasons (1. the card takes up less space, and 2. the HD Leeza can be used on other systems in the future wheras the card can only fit into the Pio)?

David,

Why do you think upgrade prices will be the same? I didn't see any upgrade offer from LEEZA to Pio card.

The HD LEEZA will have variable output and can be hooked up to more devices.

Other than that - the units should be anywhere from almost-identical to identical...

What happened to the thread containing info on the upgrade?

I wanted to print out the info regarding the upgrade from the digital leeza to the hd leeza, and I can't seem to locate that particular thread. I posted to that thread and when I did a search on my name, it still didn't find it.

Thanks,
Chris Yra
