I am on the new list.

Not sure if the shipping will be direct or will have to go through AVS first. Unfortunately, I am working out of town, yet again so my time with the unit will be limited to the weekends for a few weeks.

I will at least post initial impressions as soon as I can.

Does the RP-62 have a Coax and/or Optical digital audio output?

Is there a BNC or RCA SDi output on the RP-62.

LEEZA is all BNC (in and out). Correct?

I was also just told by Jason that my HD Leeza would be shipping Monday. My order was a new preorder (not an upgrade).

The S-video input on the HD Leeza is the standard consumer type, not BNC.

The RP62 only has coaxial digital out I believe.

I assume that since KD did the SDI mods on the RP62, they used a BNC jack so it matches up with the HD Leeza.

Great news re the HD Leeza. Congrats to all of you who will be getting one next week. We are all looking forward to getting reports on how it looks. I think it is great for the hobby and the industry that this product is coming to market. It will be even better, because of more competition and choices, when the Assimilator comes to market.

Congratulations to Key Digital as well; a great bunch of people who do great work.

Cheers

Actually I think the RP62 only has TOSLINK digital output. That was one of the reasons some, including me, wanted the 82. Oh well, can't have anything.

Anybody know of someone who would do the mod to get coax out?

That's right. I knew there was a reason besides the better MPEG decoder in the 82 that I decided to buy an 82 on my own.

Dertah,

I believe the first shipment will go to dealers and early early orders.

I think that once those units are shipped, there will likely be a firmware iteration to add features, etc., and then a major shipment will take place.

That's how these things are usually done.

Anyway, it's for real this time folks, GET READY!

Cheers,

I believe the June 15th date (for shipments of upgrade units) was mentioned previously in a posting on this Forum. But I received confirmation of it today in mail from Key Digital (in response to a question).

Looks like units are rolling out!

Sounds like info will start pouring to us all next week! CANT WAIT!!!

James Bond are you happy is eating your own words now?

BTW, !!! are shipping preliminary units of their Rock Pro units too, but without HDTV and with DVI disabled (until some problems are cleared). I don't think they're shipping to customers, but only to dealers. I think the release of HD LEEZA has put them on the spot and their dealers demanded some supplies "or else"...

I'd expect aSimilator units to ship soon too, but it looks like Key Digital beat everyone else to the finish line!

BTW, did anyone get the CCF file for the HD LEEZA yet? I'd love to take a look at it. If anyone has it, can you please email it to me?

The remote that comes with FLASH4 looks like it's a "universal" one for other devices so perhaps someone has a ccf for it or the 8X3 IR

I just got home and my HD Leeza is here. I plugged it in to my Fujitsu P42HHA10WS and got the menu. But after about 20 seconds the HD Leeza shuts itself off no matter what I do. And there is only a "preliminary manual"javascript:smilie('') Its here its real and the menu looks nice but I can't get it to do anything even display a test pattern. I'm using the DVI out. I'm about to start a search for a VGA cable.

In the back of the manual there should be an emergency troubleshooting number. At least it was there on my Digital Leeza manual. I had the same problem with the original Leeza and I tried the number on a Sunday and Mike Tsinberg, the President of the company answered the phone and we resolved the issues right then. Whatever the problem, they will resolve it to your complete satisfaction

Dear rluciano

Please call Don 203-778-0295 mailto:don@keydigital.com or mailto:mike@keydigital.com

Most likely you are not following correct set up, or using wrong dvi cable.
Thank you

I think you need to set up the unit using RGBHV (resolution, rate, etc), then shut the unit off, hook up DVI and then turn it on.

That's how it worked with most scalers up till now.

DVI is tricky that way :(

I wasn't even planning on using RGBHV. I have to buy either BNC cables or RCA > BNC adapters for some spare patch cables I have lying around just so I can set it up? Weird.

It would've been nice if a universal, low-res DVI output was supplied by default (like 640x480). That would be enough to set things up. Now I have to make a bunch of connections I never planned on using.

Michael, can you post a brief explanation of how to set up the HD Leeza? If I'm going to need BNC cables/adapters, I'd like to place an order for them now so they arrive before my Leeza does.

Thanks,
Jay

Jay,

It was just speculation on my part, it would probably be the best if you give Mike a call if you don't have a breakout cable. There's probably a way to reset the unit back to 640x480 (a button combination or sequence).

Look for something called a "grandma button" (reset resolution). I believe early HD LEEZA prototypes had something like that.

The digital leeza has that too -- a 'panic button' sequence of keys on teh remote that resets the leeza to 640x480.

Jay,

Can you post some pictures of the unit (forward and back) and a close up of the remote?

Is there an "Exit" or "Reset" button (perhaps green color)? Try pushing it down hard for a duration, or press it several times in a row. Maybe that'll reset the unit to factory settings.

FWIW, on the digital leeza you needed to push the reset button several times slowly to actually reset the unit:

2 times got you to a reset menu
4 times got you to 640x480 positive sync polarity
6 times got you to 640x480 negative sync polarity

Is there some kind of reset button on the remote?

I gather the unit didn't come with instructions that answered these questions? (Or you're a real man and don't read manuals?)

There is NO HD Leeza manual really. There is a "granny button" on the remote to reset it.
