Lumagen Pro and Anamorphic support??

I am looking at the new Lumagen Pro.
The description states that it has "Anamorphic screen support for up to 4k sources with and without an anamorphic lens."
I currently use a Panamorph vertical compression lens to get all 1080 lines of res with 2.35 movies.
I have a 10yr old Lumagen XD and and JVC RS1, on a 106" 16x9 screen and have the Lumagen stretch the image, then use the lens to compress it back to 2.35. (Looking to upgrade both)
It also gives me a brighter image.
My setup will not handle a wider screen so I could never use the scope lens.

Will the Lumagen do this without a lens, and if so how?
Would the image be better/purer with the lens?
thanks
dan
