Hi,

I've been told, by quite a few people now, about how the new HD LEEZA firmware corrects some of the issues people have been dealing with.

I thought that this is a good opportunity for me to invite Michael Lahkter from Key Digital to tell us a bit more about what the new firmware release corrects, as well as to clue us in regarding stuff that they've been working on.

I know there are quite a few things in the pipeline that people have been clamoring for and are almost ready to come out (firewire solution, Pioneer plasma card, HD HANNA).

Michael, hopefully you can join us and let us know what you guys have been working on for CES!

Cheers,
Ofer LaOr

I was told the same and it will be very soon!

Hi Ofer

The new firmware will be 5.4.38 and here is the list that it will cover.

1. Three new input PC type resolutions were added for RGBHV input to support
displays from PC: 1280x1024P/60Hz, 1024x768/60Hz, and 800x600/60Hz. You may need to use H offset or V offset in the Picture Adjustment menu to adjust different H and V timing generated by different computers;
2. RGBHV inputs were adjusted to remove banding with Sony/LG, Bell/ExpressVu, Dish 6000 boxes.
3. The user can choose to come up with RGBHV or YPbPr output during GB reset.
Right Arrow will furnish RGB output as before. GB button followed by Up or Down arrows will set HDL to YPrPb output with H and V still active. The RGBHV and DVI monitor will still work with YPrPbHV but show strange green color. The unit can be changed back to RGBHV in the System Setting Menu. Please remember: only three standard YPrPb resolutions that will be accepted by any component monitor: 720X480p/60, 1920X540p/60 (this is instead of 1080i format) and 1280X730/60. Other HDL resolutions are not standard for Component connection;
4. The user can select “Separate sync†for SDI input with an (R2,1) command
from the remote or RS232 commands S1 and S2, respectively . The user can select “Embedded sync†(usual default now) for SDI inputs with
(R2,2). Selection of the “Separate sync†allows to control SDI input H and V offset in the “Picture Adjustment†or PA menu.
5. Full-scale – three digits - control over H and V offsets is now available in the PA menu.
6. The default value for DVI-OUT-PHASE is set to 4 now. Again R8,# can control this value between values 1 and 7.
7. New feature using our special DVI monitor control technology will help with “stubborn†DVI monitors that do not accept H and V Position changes from the DVI source. R7,1 will set HDL to a special “aggressive†DVI display control mode. R7,2 will take you back to the default RGB/DVI display mode. Users with RGBHV or YPrPb monitors do not need to set to R7,1 . Current users that have no issues with H position may also use regular RGB/DVI mode.
8. Now sync is never lost on SVideo or CVBS when VCR used for stopping, starting, or tape eject --- if input sensing OSD is first inhibited through the use of R1,1. R1,2 returns to a regular state.
9. New Feature of Single digit Direct Access Input switch. The input can be switched as usual using R6,# as well as new Single key #. The Single key is activated when ALL OSD is automatically erased form the screen 60 seconds after OSD inactivity. It will also activate after user presses PP button for 6 times – effectively erasing all OSD. The single key direct access works the same way as R6,# or RS232 command “i,#â€. It switches and plugs individual memories without displaying any OSD.
10. The RS232 dialog is farther cleaned up: Help (h) and Status (s) screens on RS232 console have been filled out. The console dialog is made more consistent than it was. Prompts are always presented. Responses are printed in lines following the prompt
11. Usage of R related double key hot buttons such as R1 (IOSD), R2 (SSSDI), R6 (Direct Access), R8 (DVI phase). R7 (aggressive DVI). If the user does
not make a key-press within 60 seconds of pressing any R button, the selected hot key choice mode will go away.

Pio card is positioned for release 2nd quarter of 2004. HD Hanna won CES 2004 Award which always helps. DVI switcher & DVI distribution is in prototype stage but deifinately coming 2nd/3rd quarter of 2004. DVI blaster SDI (480i, 1080i) to DVI adopter is positioned for release 2nd quarter of 2004. We have some other product (targeted towards saving money in home installation)that we have been developing for almost 3 years now and its finalized as well. Its all digital product, and so far no manufacturer out there has the product. I cant say what it is but its coming, and it will be BIG NEWS.

By the way for the record. I would like to Thank ALL the members for support and patience of HD Leeza. The product is HOT because of your input and support. We never would of been able to do it without your input.
Thank you

Happy Holidays all!

How long would it take, given say 30 orders, to produce a Sony G-90 HDMI input card that would have sufficient headroom for 1080p?

Is that something that would be of Key Digitals interest, along the lines of a High end Pioneer Plasma card?

RE:

Is that suitable for the old Fujitsu 5002, and 6001?

I thought that 5.4.38 was the current working version, and 5.4.39 was the one that was tentatively released and then retracted. So why would the new one be 5.4.38?

Still no 960P for CRT?

Is PAL working now?

Are blacks still being clipped when DVD players are in extended black mode?

That's correct, so I suspect that was a typo...I understand they are in the 50s so maybe it was supposed to be 58?

When will the new firmware be emailed or available on the website?

Dear Marc

5.4.38 firmware has not been released yet. Its in beta test mode. I suspect that it will be approved in about 1 week. Once you get your unit, you will be able to make an upgrade from your house.
Thank you

I second that - like a few others I know we're holding off buying a Leeza until the PAL issues are resolved - was really hoping it would be this release.

Dear Peter

CRT business is very slow and we do not want to invest time, money, human resources into technology that is going away. So we would not be the right guys to build an input card for G90, but i am sure you can find a smaller manufacturer that can build this card for you.

#7: Is suitable for ANY display including Fujitsu 5002 and 6001
Thank you

960p is not a problem with HD Leeza. It is something that you personally request.

We finally received some PAL discs and sources, so we will solve this few PAL issues as well.

Do you know when RGBHV inputs will support the DTC100? It also has the banding problem. KDS tech support has not responded to repeated requests for this information over past 4 weeks.

Thanks

Thanks Michael.

When you say 960p is not a problem, are you talking about 1440x960 or the old 1280x960?

Michael:

I don't understand why 960p - 1440 x 960 - is not one of the selectable resolutions. Is there some technical reason why this extremely logical option - double the horizontal, double the vertical resolution - is not available? Seems very odd.
