I have been trying to find a Dwin transcanner 2 for months on ebay. One finally appeared, but I lost the bid at the end of the auction. It sold for $511.00, which is more than I thought an older scaler (with cosmetic issues) would sell for.

Anyway, what I need is a processor / scaler that will offer component input or HDMI input and feature 5 BNC outputs. The component inputs must detect whether the signal is 480i or 1080i, and scale accordingly. My Toshiba HD-A1 HD-DVD player will output 1080i over component or HDMI outputs.

I had another thread in the CRT projector forum, and someone suggested I try here. I am looking for an inexpensive alternative that will work for my needs. I preferred the Dwin Transcanner 2, but they are just too difficult to find right now. Thanks in advance for your help.

Why would you need a scaler when you already have an HD-dvd?

I don't necessarily need a scaler -- I need a device that will allow the signal from HD-DVD player / Dishnet HD-receiver to be sent to my projector. This is my problem.

The Toshiba outputs 1080i through component or HDMI. The Dishnet receiver outputs via the same options. My projector connects to my current scaler through BNC cables.

I'm not very tech savvy, so I was asking the professionals here at AVS. I know the Transcanner 2 from Dwin accomplishes this task (acting as a pass-through as its component input detects what signal is sent) but, as I mentioned, it's very difficult to find one. All I really need is a pass-through which will allow these devices to connect to the HD-500 CRT projector. Thanks.

If I understand well you probleme you need a YUV switcher, correct ?

Afterwards you been to plug the switcher to your CRT projector with BNC.

If the projector takes in YUV you will just need RCA to BNC YUV cable.
If the projector needs VGA RGBVH or RGsB then you will need to get a converter that does that and that will be lined up between the switcher and the projector.

OK, so will this work? Can anyone knowledgable about the Dwin CRT projector support this information. I really appreciate the help. Also, where do I find such an item? What is the expected cost of this item? Thanks a lot for all the help.

In order to be sure of your projector compatibility with video formats you better contact your installer.

I am sure that you can get an answer in the projector forums here.

Switchers can be find from Zektor, Gefen and KDS

www.zektor.com
www.gefen.om
http://www.keydigital.com/

Or any other but lower cost products on which I cannot recommand because did try any of those.

KDS is very good, Zektor more in the high-end discrite Gefen very good but very industrial.

Converters can be found at Gefen and KDS.

You can try Jason and Alan for any advising, I do not know if they sell those though.

Good luck !
