I am considering popcorn hour along in conjunction with mediagate 45. trying to decide which one will work better.

Since i am hearing a lot of info about heat /etc, can a network attached storage device be used with this device?
isn't that a better option?
Then i hear about PCH applications not working if you have external drive?
what are these apps.

Has anyone considered using PCH with a network attached storage?

Yes a NAS will work with the Popcorn Hour (PCH). Myself and many others are doing this.

The NMT applications currently need to be installed on an internal HDD to work. These applications include the Torrent Server, FTP Server, UPnP Server, and a couple of others. I am not sure if you need them to access YouTube or not. The YouTube selection is under the web services tab. I have always had a HDD in the PCH so I cannot make a comment on what will or will not work without one.

Laters,
Jeff
