After setting it to "802.11 B/G Mix", I was able to establish a connection at 54 Mbps between the two PCs. So, maybe there is a way to change this parameter in the Linux driver packaged in the app.bin ?

In case it could help someone, I solved this problem (bitrate in ad-hoc mode) by adding this line in my net.config:

Code:
iwpriv rausb0 set AdhocOfdm=1

Hi Guys,

bit of a noobie so I'm hoping somebody can help me.

I have the following setup

WDTV,
ext3-boot release 0.9.2 firmware,
Belkin USB GIGABIT ETHERNET ADAPTOR,
My Book World Edition (WDH1NC10000) NAS-DLNA/UPnP.

is it possible with the above setup for my WDTV to read my NAS over my network. My NAS drive has a USB connection but it appears for expansion purposes only and not for reading the hard drive. If it is possible what do I have to do to read my files on my NAS?

thanks in advance.

Ok next challenge, getting it to work under Windows 7 RC1

Anyone managed this yet ? After following the exact same steps under vista x64 everything works, telnet works fine and my mounts show up at haneWIN Server. However.. in the wdtv I only get an empty map. Few pages back someone else has this same problem I believe, also Windows 7 RC1.

It looks like a firewall issue, but I shut everything down so that can't be it. I shared the maps the same way as on vista giving the Guest account the rights to view the shared map.

So if anyone has a fix for this, it would be much appreciated

ok so im running the latest build of b-rad's awesome software, CIFS is working but obviously cant do anything 1080p ... so i try unix service for windows but had no luck ... i have since switch to hanewin NFS server on my windows server and have the following setup:

export file-
f:\
ews -public -readonly

for my net.mounts, i have the following set-
xmount 192.168.15.4:/news news nfs

unfortunately for me, the NFS share doesnt appear on my wdtv ... my question is

a) do i need to enable the windows guest account?
b) is my net.mounts set correctly?

thanks!

I'm pretty sure I've fixed this issue, try this:
http://rapidshare.com/files/23062693...LXTV-0.5.3.zip

for some odd but good reason, after upgrading my wdtv to 0.5.3.0 and 0.5.3.1, my 1080p valkyrie mkv file is playing perfectly over CIFS ... i been having the hardest time to get NFS working, this has been some badly needed good news ... while my other 1080p mkv still stutters, for whatever reason, the recently release valkyrie mkv is working perfectly! now if only a) the rest of my 1080p collection runs over CIFS or b) i can figure out this bloody NFS share problem ...

I decided to load up the newest Ext3 firmware, while the WDTV rebooted it went to a black screen then the power cable came out when i moved it to the side. Now I get nothing, it just sits at a black screen. Has anybody recovered from a froze firmware update?

Anyone have a solution?

Thanks

Try this one. I got it and it works great! Price is good too. Works great on 1080p NFS with jumboframes.
http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2

It is the same as the Arkview and Sabrient with ASIX AX88178. I'm fairly positive they take PayPal. Monoprice is the best.

Both NFS (with 32728 buffers) and CIFS samba to DLink DNS-323 and MacBook Pro. I get the best 1080P results (no stuttering at all on samba or NFS) on zoranders 8.6 firmware.

Seems something is wrong with wdlxtv. I just flashed it, and my NFS mounts show up but the files don't play anymore. It used to work with zoranders firmware.

I am reading this toppic and know that firmware can control the the way the WD TV box run.

I have a problem playing my Mov files with PCM audio, can someone help me with it. when I play the mov file, the video play fine, but there is no sound, it says that the audio not supported.
And is it possible to turn off the box completely when you press the red button on the remote. Even i turn off the WD TV, I can feel the viberation of the box running. I know that if something is heat too long or too much. It will be broken soon.

I just bought the WD TV a few days ago, but not sure if it worth to keep it. Trying to fine solution for this problems.

frouboy - it is possible that your WDTV will read files over the network form the NAS. Make sure you USB-ETHERNET adaptor is one of these listed on the WDTV Wiki. I have described my setup with QNAP NAS somwhere in this thread so check previous posts.

The WDTV has to remain on standby to allow it to recognise the "wake-up" command from the remote, same as all of your other audio/video equipment. It also allows you to transfer files to/from the connected drives.

As for your heat problem - my WDTV has been "on" (full or standby) pretty much non-stop since I bought it 2 months ago (except for Firmware updates) and I haven't had any problems. Either you have a defective WDTV or there's something blocking the airflow. I found that keeping the WDTV "upright" is best for heat dispersion.

I have the power cord for my WDTV plugged into the back of the receiver so it only receives power when the receiver is on. Plus, I have my harmony remote set to send an "eject"" command to the WD when I turn off the receiver.

Hi Guys,
I set up and can telnet to WDTV.
How can I modify an xml which is read only?

I followed the instructions on hxxp://wiki.wdtv.org/doku.php?id=quick-and-dirty page
and tried to set the list view size but as I'm not good at Vi, I just copied the file over to the ext. HDD (WD Passport - FAT32 -) edited it and tried to copy it back.
It didn't let me as the file is read only.

I don't seem to find the answer.

Thx for your help in advance,
Gront

Oh, What does "upright" means, sorry my english is not that good. Does it mean to put in upside down?
I unplug the power when I don't use the WD TV, is hat bad?
That is the only way I can stop the heat of my box.

Great stuff! I'm using Zorander's release at the moment. Does your version require a flash? Or could I extract/modify it into a release the will work without flashing?

just 'borrow' my xml files and integrate them into ext3-boot...it was done after my previous osd tweaks and just requires swapping them. if you download the stock.osd.bin it contains everything you need.

edit: except /usr/bin/list.watch you'll need that too

Does anyone know if you can setup a NFS on the Maxtor Central Axis? I got it set up on my computer folders, but I need it on the NAS.

Or can I setup a folder for NFS and inside that folder have a shortcut to the drive? Would that work either? This whole NAS and the WDTV is driving me crazy.
