Yes, have formatted it with no luck. The aggregate message went away, but none of the files will play.

Apparently there is, already, a "second generation" of the original WDTV HD. It appears that it supports DTS down-sampling. But is not really clear what is difference, from hardware perspective, with the first generation as the DTS down-sampling is a matter of firmware.

There is a new firmware line for it, too. Probably is the WDTV Live with its net features cut, that helps the production.

For the first generation we haven't much to expect any more. Any way it works for me, except that in the latest version is not working the "play one after another" when you press "Play". But I can go to a previous version as I didn't see any much difference for the files I play.

the 2G WDTV has a similar chip to the WDTV Live, though actual RAM figures haven't been disclosed as far as i am aware. essentially from what i have heard, it can do everything that the WDTV Live can do, but without the networking.

The newest firmware 3.1 gives errors in playback I never got before.
1 file was played corrupted that was not before and I just had an error in a file while playing; suddenly it said that is couldn't play the file and the palyer froze. Had to reset it. 1 was an avi file the other a mkv. Never had this with the former firmware. Da.. it.

Having installed the latest 1.03.01 firmware, I've discovered that once again Forced Subtitles (translating dialog from any foreign to the native language of the DVD) do not display. This has been an on and off problem in the past with the various firmware and beta releases but finally was corrected until now. Now were back to square one. While not affecting every DVD movie, it is really annoying when it does. A little over 4 minutes into the main movie of the recent Angels & Demons release (VOB file stored in its VIDEO_TS folder), you soon become aware of the problem. I hope the WD TV project personnel still from time to time monitor this forum.

Hey ScottWD... we are still waiting the big plans for WDTV 1!

Still no proper 1080p 23,976hz playback
Still no new features stated has "planned" and "accepted" in User Voice

I hope that after very few official firmwares, WD didnt forget the early adopters!

I don't think so that there are will be more updates. WD has go on already.

But I don't really need them. At least for 720p videos is ok. I only be annoyed with this bar that appears every time I start or stop the video and remains too long on screen until disappear. I have all the time to press OK to make it disappear faster.

And they will lose support only with 3 official firmwares?

ScottWD... I STILL have audio sync issues with MKV+AC3 in my WDTV 1ºgen...

I have firmware 1.03 that was released in 11/9/2009... so, is WD going to solve this once and for all, or not?

I hope, at least, WD to say something about this...

Thank you.

i'm not sure this is the right place to put this, but I have a wdtv 1, and I think it's great, I've put in all my thumbnails and it's working great.

the ONLY request i'd have for them (if they ever do more for it) is to be able to display the thumbnails larger, and/or have fewer of them as they only take up about 1/3 of my screen and I can't see them well.......

otherwise love it.

I have no idea what I'm doing, but it's still fun!!

I must have FW 1.03.01 because I just experienced the same audio issues with DTS 5.1 music files (wav.)

Physical media is on the way out

How well are 24 bit WAV files supported with the WD HD players? Are they bit transparent for 44 and 48kHz sampling rates?

I was looking through posts and haven't been able to find anything regarding an issue I keep running into. When I pause a video for more than 5-10 minutes, then try to play again, it's resumes playing and after a couple seconds stops and bounces back to the menu. It doesn't even provide an option to resume. Anyone experience this problem or know of a solution?

It is a known issue (at least to me).
How are you playing your files? SMB? DLNA? Local?

In my case, I am using SMB and DLNA, and both access methods display this issue. I wonder if it has to do with improper polling by the WDTV to prevent the LAN connection from being lost, resulting in playing back only the buffer amount...

Are you connected to your shares behind a switch?

I have the DGS-2205 switch which has "green" features - which shuts down the link after a certain period of inactivity. I don't know if this is what causes the problem, nor have I tested any methods to prevent this from happening. My workaround has been to "STOP" and "RESUME" the movie.

i have a wd hd tv gen 1 with last firmware update and ripped dvd movies in (1gb .vob files in video_ts folder) and have 2 problems:

1) Does not displays subtitles

2) Plays vob files one by one and not the whole movie

Is there anything i can do? Is the first one a problem of the last firmware?
