Hi,

Yesterday I wanted to watch Bunny House 720p bluray septic with subtitles,

i created this structure on WD my book 500GB -> /Movies/Bunny-House/
and /Movies/Casino-Royale/

First, HD TV never wanted to finish "searching for USB...blabla" ...I had to pull out from the power and then recoonect it. Okay finally...

When I wanted to watch Bunny House movie, subtitles dissapeared. I connect WD my Book 500GB to my computer, and it was true. Subtitle file (.srt) was gone. I copy again, and WD HD TV media player deleted it again. I do it again, and HD TV deletes it another time.

Then I simply make this structure /BH/ (without movies) and /CR/ (for casino royale).

Well now it finally worked. BUT this little box, always got some ****** stuff. for example: casino royale witout sound.

I am deeply dissapointed with this box, it was worth 100 EUR but it doesnt matter. I hate to see that some box deletes my files. Too good that I didn't connect my computer to this HD TV player...probably it would deleted some **** it doesn't like.

What is going on? this box is still full of bugs!

actually responding of HD TV media player (even if I have latest firmware) is a disaster! I will never again think of buying such thing.

If there will ever be standalone Blu-Ray player (options for BD discs, DVD discs, USB connection) + playing all media formats, I will buy that one, till then I will rather buy laptop with hdmi connection. problem solved.

Another thing that wasn't really nice was: the usb flash drive (key) I use it for watching all movies.
I have Corsair Voyager GT 16GB, when I tried to put bluray movies (over 4GB one file), I got an error that disk is full. Well the problem was FAT32 on this usb flash drive, it needs to be formatted in NTFS. I do that. but then I find out that 720p movies got a slighltly worse picture (like 5% on darker colors). And NTFS for usb flash drive isn't good as I read some posts on other forums.

So there is really not easier option to connect laptop to TV and have no problems anymore.

Anyone knows if there is a possibility that HD TV media player left some files on USB flash drive or external harddrive that could delete other files when you connect it to computer? (that isn't possible right?)
Since there is some directory always on .wd.tv or something.

WDTV doesn't have the capability to delete files from your drive so that's not the problem. I had a similar problem where I added some files and then I checked them on WDTV and they were gone. But then I checked them on my PC and they were still on the drive but for some reason WDTV would not show them.

I fixed my problem by changing the settings to Media Library: On. Then I searched for the files and they were present. Try turning on Media Library and searching for the file.

Also, WDTV does not display .srt files. It will not display them but it will show the subtitles if you have a video file with the same name. So if your only problem is not seeing the .srt file, then you don't have a problem.

Hello Guys!

I have the same problem first day when I bought it. I have My Book 250GB, wanted to watch some other movie.
When I wanted to check "options" and check for subtitles (on/off), there were NO SUBTITLES. Alright then, I connected My Book back to PC, and found NO SUBTITLES in that directory anymore. So where is the trick? I don't know. I made another copy of that srt subtitle to that directory, connect my book back to WD HD TV and ......... NO SUBTITLE. Again! what? there were exactly in the same directory on PC just minute ago.

I disconnected my book from HD TV and connected it back to PC. Yeah, subtitles weren't there anymore.
So I don't know why are you saying that HD TV doesn't have option to delete files, if it can clearly writes up? (.hd.tv directory)

I'm confused too with this thing, but will probably order some HDMI notebook.
HD TV got way too many bugs, if you just touch the hdmi or power cable it can go out pretty fast.

Next day I reformatted my book, and problem didn't persist anymore.

Huh, I got a cheap 16gig kingston drive that I formatted to ntfs and play 720 and 1080p mkv with awesome picture quality, no degration at all and have a bigger external drve and results from both drives are the same. If I would of known about this player 2 months ago, I would never have built me kick a** HTPC that cost me 20 times more.

WD media player apparently has the capability and the desire to delete files.

I have been experiencing this since the upgrade to the new firmware. If I am watching something and stop it before it ends for any reason, the damn thing just deletes it. Next time I go back to watch whatever episode I had left unfinished, I just find an empty folder with the same name. Checking the HD on the computer gives the same result.

WD, I am disappoint!
