I think that the fast-forward/rewind abilty was "improved" in the very first update.
and the 10 min jump helps but it behaves so clunky. Is that is all we can ever expect?
I am not irate with FF/REW ability but it is something i felt should be a bit better.

Are most here satisfied mostly with this function atm? I know some have different needs/bugfixes but I hoped for better function before features.
We use WD in different ways so maybe some of you are happy but for me I just want to go back to my dvd remote.
presently eyeballing a bluray player cuz my entertainment has me grinding my teeth.

RW/FF could use some work.
Shouldn't take 15 seconds to back up 5 seconds.

I agree its pretty annoying. Then it takes 10 seconds when you hit play to get its act together.

I suggest WD download the file and take a look at it for themselves because this is a typical example of how MKV audio can go out of sync.
I believe that if WD identifies the sync issues for the file above, then all other mkv sync audio issues can be solved.

some other videos that i've seen, which are encoded by other people also tend to have sync issues.
here's a tip for WD: i believe dual-audio anime in mkv containers are the videos that are most susceptible for going out of sync.
it is a problem that many other users have faced and it needs to be fixed.

i believe the problem lies either in the way the wdtv handles the audio within the MKV container, or it has something to do with detecting the proper framerate and syncing it with the audio.

anyway there are other mkv files, be it 480p, 720p or 1080p, and even home-made mkv files that go out of sync.
just take a look here http://wdtv.uservoice.com/pages/1744...io-out-of-sync

Luckily I have not had any major issues with my WDTV until I got a foreign movie (WarLords) with subs yesterday. Audios syncs up fine on PC but on the WDTV players its out of sync (by 3-4 seconds).

Hopefully the guys at WD will fix it by the end of this year.

If you can post the mediainfo for the file. This will allow others to see and possibly help with the file. It could be the file it could be the player, until we see the media info and others test it we will never know. You may also want to post a sample of the file.

Or he could do something diferent... put the subs inside the MKV. I believe that will solve the crappy firmware bug!

I took a picture of one of the WD devs... he was late for work... but with a smile on his face!

Pick a MKV and put portuguese subs or similar... and you will have probably audio issues after 30, 40 minutes of playing.

Pick a 1080p 5 reframes with subs and you will have blocky image in movement scenes.

Its not scary... its just a lazy sloth!

- I also have the Xtreamer and the movie plays fine so i can only assume the problem is with the WD Player and not the file.
- The subs are hard encoded (makes no difference whether its on or off).
- I have a few other foreign movies with no audio sync problems so i am curious whats causing the problem.
- I am going to see if upgrading from v1.02.07 to 1.02.08 fixes the problem.

Orignally I had v1.02.10 but when I got the problem i decided to downgrade to 1.02.07 (official release) see if it was the beta firmware but I still had the problem. I just wanted to see if upgrading just to 1.02.08 (fixes the problem), if not then i am going to see if downgrading to v1.02.03 fixes it.

I am aware reverted to the old firmware has fixed the audio sync issues for most people. Hope it makes sense.

I upgraded to 1.02.10 from 1.02.07 and I noticed some very good improvements. My mkv files with ogg audio are now supported, which is really great. Besides, I had some audio/video sync issues with other mkv files and now they play perfectly.
Thus, I think that the developers are really doing a good job by fixing bugs and issues, while introducing new features.

Now I wish that they would provide more subtitles options, but I have read that it is already planned, so it will be introduced in future firmware releases,
as well as support/hide Advanced Substation Alpha (.ass) code tags, which is also planned.

Yes, MKV out of sync issue is still there with 1.02.10... after 1.02.03, this issue is permanent!

Well, I do not know about this MKV out of sync issue that you are mentioning, all that I can tell you is that I had some MKV files that were out of sync before, and now they play with no issues. Maybe this has nothing to do with the issue that you mentioned.

As for new features, I was referring to the ability to play now MKV files with ogg audio, something that was not possible in 1.02.07, version which I was using before.
