hey guys
wondering if someone could give me a hand.
i have installed Tversity and replaced the profile file with the one on the previous page of this forum.

Then i rebooted my pc and opened up tversity

question at this point - what do i need to do with the settings? do i need to set the device type or keep it on automatic detection? do i need to set the ip address of the pc or the oppo?

when i turn the oppo on tversity is only listed every now and then. It seems to be quite random. Even when i have used a hard wire it doesn't show. Any suggestions?

When it does show - it doesn't seem to want to play anything. I have tried to play an mp3 - i try to load it and the oppo responds slowly. The blue play symbol comes up and then disappears to the next listed mp3 and this repeats itself. I have been able to stream the same file from my Samsung galaxy S phone with no problems. (which incidently is picked up straight away all the time!)

any help would be most appreciated.

No.

Try to stop your firewall and/or antivirus (especially NOD). If it start to work, then you should configure Tversity as allowed in these softwares.

Maybe AV or FW problem, too. Or Oppo firmvare version with different ID then specified in Tversity config. You should see Oppo in Tversity status page as Oppo and not Device or so.

I think that all current and previous ID's could be included in the example profile, I just don't remember if there are quotes around the OR's. Something like this:

And where did TVersity get their bad OPPO profile...

How can I debug my TVersity/OPPO setup if the OPPO always tells me that the file format is not recognized each time that transcoding is activated? Like if the transcoded MPEG was no good. TVersity is on a fresh 64bit OS install.

Similarly, how can we debug particular files? There's almost no feedback on errors from either the software or the OPPO.

I tried ffdshow with and without the TVersity codec pack, and I'm using this website's OPPO profile.

Read my post (# 1164, page 39) to see, what happens with the different OPPO-strings (on my system).

By the way, is there no one to answer my question about the curious reactions between strings and firmwares?

i have given up with tversity
downloaded the trial of nero media home and got it working straight away

what i am finding funny is that the oppo takes a while to start streaming a 320kbs mp3 but started streaming a HD mkv straight away.

any thoughts on that?

Probably configuration - server is transcoding.

I use Asset for audio and Tversity or PS3MS for mkv video. Sometimes happens that PS3MS does not play some mkv and Tversity does.

Been using Asset UpnP beta 3.0 for weeks and its working well for me.

I have some 24 bit cds and in the edit part of Asset you can select 24 bit LPCM..by default its not selected.

When I do this the 24 bit files I have do not show up via the Oppo BD 83SE network menus.

When not selected the files show up and play..??

Wonder if this is a bug? are the files being transcoded as 16 or 24 with this switch not on?

This is a known issue. 24 bit LPCM streaming is not working so you have to leave it unchecked which allows the 24 bit files to be played but knocked down to 16 bit LPCM. From what I have gathered, it is an issue on the Oppo side but one that, in theory, can be corrected. Unfortunately it has not been fixed yet and there doesn't appear to be any strong motivation on the Oppo side to pursue it further. That said, the 24 bit files streamed as 16 bit still sound great!

I am very glad to hear that Spoon is still talking to Oppo about it to try to work it out. That conversation began several months ago so I was starting to assume it had fizzled out.

Sorry if this is a newbie question but I have not been able to find an answer. I have owned a Oppo-83 for a while. I recently purchased a Synology NAS drive and have been playing around with (trying to learn) the DLNA features.

I was wondering if there is a way to display cover artwork when using the Oppo as a media player. When I use my Apple TV, I can put the artwork in and it will show up when I browse the Apple TV. Is this possible with the Oppo?

If so, how would I go about doing it?

Regards,

John

There only cover art I have seen displayed is for mp3 files with id3v2 embedded "PIC" tags.

Oppo replied very quickly to my questions (as always!!):

1. 24-bit LPCM should be supported. Ensure that you have FORCE LPCM set to no maximum bit/frequency (Advance Settings in Asset UPnP). Ensure that both the player and Asset UPnP are using the latest firmware builds.

2. Unfortunately the player was designed to populate these fields based on ID3 Tagging and embedded album art. We can't push data from the DLNA server. This is something that we are looking into, but we do not know if it will ever become a part of our products.

for question 1, I will check to see what my setting is in V3 beta of Asset!!
and for 2 at least its not 100% negative for the FLAC metadata etc.

I just downloaded the latest (Sept. 29) Asset beta and was already running the latest Oppo beta firmware. Still no luck on the 24 bit support. Files are still being forced to 16 bits with L24 unchecked and no files listed at all when L24 is checked (same behavior as with previous releases). Hopefully Oppo and Spoon can get to the bottom of this and get it fixed in the near future!

I tried a few backlevel Oppo firmwares and could not find a combination and swich settings to allow 24 bit flacs to show up from the oppo interface when the 24 bit LPCM was selected in Asset, the 29th build as well.

How is this release in terms of performance? I upgraded a while back and the OPPO stopped seeing content. Haven't had time to troubleshoot but my plan was to roll back to an older version.

Okay I am sure that this is covered somewhere in the many pages of this thread, but I am having trouble piecing the latest solution together. I have an Oppo blu ray player with my airport extreme/time machine connected via hard wired ethernet. I have a 2009 MacBook Pro. What do I need to download on my MacBook and or my Oppo to stream from my computer to my Oppo 2 channel setup. Note I have loaded the latest beta firmware on my Oppo which states that it fixed network streaming. Thank for anyones help here and please include my nickname "alatham" in your reply if you can so I am clear that the response is to my request.

You'll need a DLNA server on your Mac. I have not kept up with the options, but read the FAQ starting at What is DLNA? and perhaps the first post in this thread for server comments.

I use Twonky on Linux and it is available on Mac and Windows as well.

You have to use a server which can transcode FLAC to something else - e.g. LPCM. I use Asset - works pretty well.
