I started this thread for reviews and discussion of the latest Xtreamer FW and software on the Xtreamer Sidewinder and Xtreamer Pro.

Today Xtreamer released its new firmware verson 2.4. Along with the new firmware they also released movie jukebox software for their streamers. This FW and software is supposed to finally deliver on the promises Xtreamer has made from its inception.

The Xtreamer forum is not the place to go for reality. Here at AVS, there is a better chance for "Truth, Justice and the American Way" if Xtreamer shills are properly identified and not allowed to patently push propaganda.

I understand that original buyers of Xtreamer will not get what they were promised in terms of true 5.1 and 7.1 audio. But now is the time to see what is really available to buyers of the new Sidewinder and Pro.

I do not own any Xtreamer product and want to know the reality of what is offered and how well it works so that I can decide if I wish to buy in the face of the attitude and style of Xtreamer policies and advertising.

Now I hope that those who know about the new FW and softaware for the new Sidewinder and Pro will report the "Rest Of The Story."

Thanks,

Moniker

Is this still the Beta firmware, or a final release firmware?

Well, I guess this thread will not get rev'ved up.

The thread pointed to in the reply is kind of tired and is currently made up of arguments about past insults to the public by Xtreme.

I was hoping this thread would take up the baton for the present and future of Xtreme FW and software with current devices. The old arguments could take place on the old thread and here we could have discussions re: the present and future.

As for me, they fooled me again. I thought the FW and software released 12:00 Sun/Mon was to be a formal final version of 2.4 for public use. Well, I was wrong. It is a public beta! I guess Xtreme will never release anything but a beta because they will always be catching up on future promises they may or may not keep.

Nevertheless, it would be great if those who have installed the 2.4b public beta FW and Software on their Sidewinder and/or Pro give the rest of us an idea of; how well it all works, advantages and disadvantages and how the latest beta compares with the competition when used on current Sidewinder and Pro hardware.

Thanks all

Is the Xtreamer Pro the one with the internal dual bay so you can install two 3.5 internal hard drives?

I am curious about how it works, too.... It is the first media player I have seen with two internal HDD capabilities...

Cheers!

Hi Guys,

Apparently I am not the only one who wants to know what's up with 2.4 and the jukebox with Pro and Sidewinder.

Unfortunately we are being directed to old threads with puffery in them.

What is wrong with a new thread looking at the way things are now?

Someone must have given 2.4 and the jukebox a real workout on Pro and Sidewinder by now. I am looking for a reason to give up my HTPC's for a PRO and apparently there are no reasons to do such a thing. Hmmmm.

Thanks

I don't, those were done by Mavvy, but it gives a taste of what the 2.4 fw will do.

Sorry... I originally did and it brought up "other" xtreamer threads instead.

I don't have the Xtreamer SideWinder or Xtreamer Pro, so I can't answer the first question for you. I've read that some are bitstreaming the HD audio fine, others are having issues. But this is the 2.4 public beta, so some issues are expected.

As for question 2, in my case I am experiencing no stuttering when viewing over lan (and my HTPC in the basement HT which has all of my movies is streaming via 802.11n WiFi). Some of my movies are between 25GB and 29GB, and they stream fine.

I Finally got around to testing 2.4 beta 20 RC3 on Xtreamer Pro.

Here are the results streaming over a wired LAN connection:

DTS-HD Master from Blu-ray ISO : occasional Audio Stutter (drop-out)

(ISO's require a bit more work during playback since they have to be "unpacked" on-the-fly). Not sure if this is LAN / buffer problem--Can test the file with a connected hard drive/flash drive later to see if it makes a difference.

DTS-HD Master in MKV Container: No Audio Dropouts or Stutter

Dolby TrueHD from Blu-Ray rip (folder structure--not ISO): also occasional audio drop-outs/ stutter. I am using a Dolby: Sound of High Definition "disc." The disc has samples of different Dolby formats. It seems that most of the "drop-outs" occur when the "disc" is switching from playing one format to another--like if it goes to Dolby Digital Plus after playing Dolby True-HD--not sure if the receiver is just being slow to pick up the change.

Right now, the only one that seems to work pefectly is DTS-HD Master from MKV container.

Hi again, thanks for infor. I would like to ask you or anyone who have a chance to test just ISO Blu-ray format directly to the reciever. did you test all the sounds as: Full 7.1 HD Audio SupportDTS-HS MA & Dolby True-HD without any problems. Also, how is jukebox working.
Thanks

Thanks please post results for USb HDD playback .

What about slowing down of video reported by some users when HD-Audio gets bitstreamed ?

Unless something has changed that I don't know about . . . no you don't need a serial number.

You do have to register on the forums.

On the (old) form (not sure if it has changed) it asks for a webshop order number. If you don't have one, delete the "0" in the field, and it will allow you to submit the registration form.

Hi,
I am running a wired fixed IP Xtreamer with no HDD and with a 2GB Memory stick.

Version 2.3.1 worked flawlessly since I bought the unit.

For me there seems to be a basic stability issue with 2.4

No matter which install method is applied (upgrade or emergency I did them both) the outcome is unstable.

The "Network Shares" and "Favorites" seem to randomly load or not load.

After booting the device if I go directly to the Jukebox app it is unable to access the "Favorites" folders. Only after manual access to the "Network" and "Shared Folders" the JB app is able to access the files in these folders.

After the device is idle for more than 30 minutes it hangs.

Is this only my device or is anyone else experiencing the same?
