I suggest that prospective buyers no longer look at this product , as I have lost all confidence in it.

My Fusion HD is due to me tomorrow. I will report first impressions by Thursday. I have just come off the first and dismaying impressions of the Popbox (sent back to Amazon).

It doesn't have the visually appealing GUI from what I've seen on the Popbox. Nor does it have the NetFlix feature... but it gets the job done and there seems to be other nice features...

I am currently channel hunting with the Fusion Channel and so far a majority of them work... you just have to be lucky and catch them when they are broadcasting - it is almost like treasure hunting.

sgvroadster,

I don't consider the Popbox UI anything spectacular. For all the hype it's really no big deal. I am not interested in thumbnail depictions and IMDB data. From what I have seen of the Fusion HD UI from the YouTube videos it is totally satisfactory to me. As far as Netflix...I would gladly forfeit a Netflix for a box that gets the job done in the area of it's core function and that is playing multiple media formats (video, audio, photo). I would like some internet content capability. That's what makes the Boxee Box so appealing but we don't know yet if that product will perform as advertised.

This is what I've learned with the negative Popbox experience, the product is only as good as the company behind it

I emailed Nixeus support about Netflix, and they said it should be implemented by the end of the year. I returned my Popbox today, and ordered a Fusion HD. Hopefully, this box can replace my ancient PCH A100.

I e-mailed them too a few weeks ago regarding NetFlix... They told me they are currently working on it - but from what I'm reading on other forums about other media players nothing is definate... I have a PS3 that does Netflix so it doesn't matter for me at the moment.

What does this thing do that the ~$100 players don't?

Glancing at the specs, no BR ISO support (coming eventually it says, no mention of it it'll do menus or not).... HD Audio support is unclear as it doesn't list the 7.1 formats in 3 outta 4 places on the web page, but does mention them once...

If you are using the Nixeus Fusion HD and trying to perform those functions from its GUI? = Yes, your are correct Teddy - I cannot copy/delete files on the SAMBA/UPnP Server/Internal HDD/External HDD... I don't even think there is a "delete button" on the remote...

But if I try to perform those functions over the network, wireless/wired, and try to copy/delete files inside the Fusion's internal HDD from my PC or laptop - yes I can do that...

I hope this answers/confirms your question? Or did I just confuse myself even more?

Cheers!

Has anyone tried Tversity with the FHD yet? I have windows Vista and it seems to work fine with it. I only have the free version of Tversity so I don't know how it works with other video files. I mainly use SAMBA for streaming all my files.

Cheers!

i did some testing a couple of weeks ago with tversity (i much prefer samba streaming personally) and i was able to watch avi files (was all i tried with it) using it over upnp

As an update.. i just installed tversity in windows xp mode in win 7 and shared music, photo and video folders and i was able to view the contents of these files with ease via upnp on the fusion

Great post! Why don't you pop on over to amazon and pick up a popbox for $129?

Has anyone had sucess streaming Hulu content from Play-on to the FHD? I just received mine a couple days ago and have run into some difficulty. No matter what file I select I get "not supported file". The FHD is wired directly to my router. Any ideas/suggestions? Thxs
